Middle Cottage enjoys a fantastic location in the centre of the market, where you will find an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants right on your doorstep, including The George & Dragon and The Bridge, along with the popular Picnic Basket sandwich shop and a good selection of takeaways. Within the bustling town, you will also find the Ashbourne Outdoor Market, where you can purchase fresh and local produce, and the picturesque Ashbourne Park, perfect for enjoying a homemade picnic. Keen walkers and outdoor enthusiasts are well-catered for, with the Dove and Manifold Valleys within easy reach, offering fantastic scenery and views throughout. Venture into the Peak District National Park, where you can explore the fascinating Poole’s Cavern in Buxton, visit the esteemed Chatsworth House followed by a delicious Bakewell Pudding in Bakewell or head over to Matlock, where you can take an alpine-style cable car up to The Great Rutland Cavern and a fossil Museum. Within Matlock you can also enjoy leisurely walks in Hall Leys Park, hikes up to the Pic Tor War Memorial, and rides aboard vintage steam trains along the Peak Rail. Treat your loved one to a luxurious stay at Middle Cottage.

When it comes to English market towns, Ashbourne is hard to beat. It has everything: a bustling marketplace, charming cobbled streets and alleyways, historic coaching inns and charitable institutions. There are several magnificent examples of Georgian architecture throughout the town that were built during its heyday in the 18th century. Restaurants and inns still abound in town, and it is a popular spot for antique shoppers, but don't come expecting a deal! The Dove and Manifold Valleys are just a short drive away for those who want a more active lifestyle.

The cottage itself was so cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. An added bonus was a lovely welcome tray with chocolates and a bottle of prosecco. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
