About this property

The Beach Lawn House was originally built in 1860 for Mr Thomas Henry Ismay founder of the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, more commonly known as the White Star Line. His son Bruce Ismay lived at the house until he was 13 , he eventually took over the running of the White Star line when his father retired. After commissioning the build of RMS Titanic, in 1912, he came to international attention as the highest-ranking White Star official to survive the sinking of the ship for which he was subject to severe criticism. The Ismay Billiard Room Apartment used to be the wing of the house that was once the Original Billiard Room for the Ismay family. Step back in time into this luxury abode. It has a private entrance from the front of the main building that leads into the Orangery/Conservatory, a delightful space to relax and take in those beach views. Take a step up into the lounge, where you can collapse on the comfortable corner sofa beside the gas fire, picking out a favourite show from the Smart TV. Move into the kitchen, housing a microwave/Oven, fridge, kettle and toaster for your basic cooking needs. Decorated with Cole & Son designer wallpaper , the focal point of the apartment is the eye-catching bedroom, housing a sumptuous king-size bed in a crushed velvet frame, with two sofas (one is a small sofa bed) and elegant wardrobe to complete. Start the morning with a rinse in the walk-in shower, before heading out to the front lawn and bistro table and chairs for a coffee.
