We spent a long weekend here as 4 adults and 5 children, and it was perfect. The house is spacious and well presented with a set of 4 large bedrooms. Kitchen and dining space were both well stocked with everything you need to cook and dine.Location was perfect for us, very accessible from the M6 and only 20mins to Bowness/Ambleside

Hoopers End is simply perfect. My family always spend Christmas away and have booked cottages in Cumbria in and around the Lake District at Christmas, and during other school holidays, for many years. We have stayed at some amazing properties but we have never returned to any as we like to try different venues and locations. That was until we stayed at Hoppers End. We first stayed here at Christmas 2024 so this was our second visit and again it did not disappoint...The property is one of a row of converted farm buildings in the quiet village of Sedgwick around 4 miles from Kendal. The location is rural and peaceful but has the convenience and benefits of being close to a town with access to several supermarkets and decent shops and restaurants. Within driving distance are many local attractions; it is a great base to explore the Lakes and surrounding area. During our week there we ventured out and about including a boat trip on Lake Windermere, the panto in Lancaster and to the independent cinema the Roxy at Ulverston where they screen "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve together with carols, mulled wine and mince pies - now part of our Christmas tradition. Sizergh Castle is also a stone's throw away and the Barn Farm Shop and Cafe is worth visiting for a quick brunch or snack. The house itself is beautifully appointed with modern furnishings and decorated to a very high standard. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The lounge is comfortable with plenty of seating so it never feels overcrowded. The dining room which is adjacent to the lounge and kitchen is large enough to accommodate all the family with extra chairs if needed. Upstairs on the first floor are 3 bedrooms and a large family bathroom with a bath and a separate walk-in shower. The are two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom again attractively decorated. Go upstairs again to find a large bedroom with a king size and single bed with its own ensuite and shower. A perfect retreat for the kids. The house is very spacious and there is loads of room so you do not feel on top of each other. We are a family of 6 but the house can sleep up to 9. It is obvious that the house is well-loved by the owners who clearly want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy what the property has to offer. There are nice touches such as basic provisions in the kitchen, milk in the fridge and even a gift of wine and biscuits were left for us to enjoy. There is an abundance of books throughout the house and board games which give it a very homely feel. Hoopers End was the highlight of our Christmas holiday. In fact we had such a wonderful time we have booked again for this year.
