Spend your down time in the sitting area, boasting a cosy feel with exposed beams and an alluring woodburning stove to heat you, while there is also a mezzanine snug where you can kick back and do some work or indulge in a good read. As you while away the hours and begin to settle down, the fabulous bedroom awaits, home to a king-size bed which can be arranged as a twin on request, served by a gleaming shower room where you can prepare for the day. Take the evening outside to the wonderful extensive garden, where you can cross over the bridges and listen to the running water, all while your canine companion roams the expansive lawns. Being based on The Dales Way, there are scenic walks amongst unspoilt countryside and Docker Parks for a shorter stroll. You are also well placed for discovering Wainwright’s beloved Howgills, the nearby Cautley Spout, Britain’s highest waterfall above ground, and the dramatic Dentdale, while the local area is home to many varieties of wildlife including buzzards and deer. Half Island Lodge is a short drive from the centre of Kendal with all its amenities, including a host of quirky shops, ideal for grabbing a souvenir to take home, plus a variety of tea rooms, welcoming pubs and restaurants where you can sample the local food. Situated at the foot of the Howgil Fells, the market town of Sedbergh is a lovely base for a holiday, resting inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and not far from the Lake District National Park. The charming town offers a variety of shops, pubs, narrow streets and a famous school, dating to 1525. Nearby is Dentdale, offering unspoilt countryside and stone walls, which stretches' 14 miles. In the heart of the of the dale is Dent, renowned for its Settle-Carlisle railway line and cobbled streets.
