About this property

Nestled on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, in the heart of Wooler, is this well-presented barn conversion, Yeavering. Boasting contemporary décor with white-washed walls and Smart TVs, this holiday home is a superb base for a small family of four friends looking for a stylish getaway. Park up outside at the front of the property and admire the shared garden area with furniture to sit out in the morning sunshine. Step inside to discover the kitchen/diner, here the chef of the group can make use of the electric oven and hob and put your favourite bottle of wine in the fridge. When dinner is served, pour your wine and tuck-into a feast as you celebrate your holiday. For a fuss-free clean up there is a washing machine and dishwasher, so you don't have to worry about making a mess! Moving through the property, locate the sitting room, with a splash of blush pink and leather sofas to unwind on with a good book in hand. The ground floor also hosts a sleek bathroom, the ideal place to relax, with a tub to melt your worries away and an overhead shower for a rinse. Climb upstairs to choose your bedroom, with a super-king-size and a twin bedroom to rest your head, as well as a Smart TV in each for late night entertainment. Head out on foot to find the close-by convenience store for any last-minute essentials and across the road lies a pub for a refreshing pint. Lace up your walking boots and ramble the wonderful scenery of Northumberland National Park or enjoy a picnic at Henderson Park. A scenic car journey will lead you to the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, here you can visit Andy Howey Birds of Prey, tour the picturesque gardens of Paxton House and history buffs can tour Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle and Ramparts. For a memorable escape, whisk your favourite people to Yeavering.

Wooler is a charming, mediaeval market town nestled in the foothills of the Cheviots, which form part of the Pennine Way, on the banks of the River Till, one of the Tweed's tributaries. Wooler, dubbed "The Gateway to the Cheviots" by locals, features a variety of hotels and restaurants, as well as a fantastic position for visiting Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Wooler is a short drive from the historic town of Alnwick, with its famed Castle and Gardens, and the well-preserved Garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, both of which are located on the fringe of the Northumberland National Park.

    Even the weather was good.

The house comfortable and modern with everything we needed and the dishwasher was a welcome addition. There were only two of us but plenty of space for a family of 4. The bedding and towels were very clean and it smelled really fresh as you walked in. The bed was enormous and so comfy- we slept like a log! 4/5 stars as it wasn’t perfect if I’m being picky- there were no coat hooks; the oven was coming out as we opened the door; the shower leaked which left a patch of damp; and some of the bathroom fixings were wobbly. Having said that, those really are niggles- the parking was great, staff were really friendly; the bed was enormous with a really comfy mattress; stunning views and all the facilities you need; beautifully clean towels and bedding; lovely clean kitchen and cooking facilities; a lovely, warm and cosy place; and the restaurant right on your doorstep. Beautiful place and would happily return and will recommend to family and friends.

Good size for 2 people and 2 children. No hairdryer so bring your own if you need one. As per one of the reviews, there are no wardrobes but there are hooks and hangers on bedroom doors and a big set of drawers on the landing. Hotel is really nice, friendly staff and good food. Wooler is perfectly placed to explore Northumberland... And some of Scotland! 30 min drive to Bamburgh, Seahouses for boat trips and Holy Island. The town is less than a 10 min walk from the hotel /cottages and is really nice with 3 pubs, restaurants, hotels and shops. Everyone is friendly. Would definitely visit again!
