Old Wooler sits on the banks of the River Till, a tributary of the Tweed, in the foothills of the Cheviots, which form part of the Pennine Way. It is a lovely, historic market town. Just outside the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is close to mediaeval Alnwick and the well-preserved garrison town of Berwick upon Tweed. Alnwick is home to the world-famous Castle and Gardens. Nearby attractions include Chillingham Castle, which is home to an ancient herd of wild white cattle, and the Scottish town of Coldstream.
