The kitchen is suitably rustic in style with all that is needed to create delicious food for the whole holiday party and an elegant dining table completes the space, all set up ready for long, sociable meals together. You can imagine spending many happy hours here during your holiday eating, drinking and being merry. If the sun is shining, then make your way outside where you will find a picnic bench overlooking the gardens and idyllic countryside beyond, the perfect spot for chilling out and soaking up the peaceful, rural vibes. When it’s time for bed, there are three well-presented bedrooms with beautiful countryside themes running throughout, making them a calming sanctuary after a hard day of holidaying. Whether you like a quick, refreshing shower or a long, relaxing soak is more your thing, it’s covered at Poachers Pocket with the stylish bathroom boasting an attractive, freestanding bath or step-in shower. Getting out and about couldn’t be easier with the pretty village of Whittingham on the doorstep and the delightful village of Alnwick a few miles away which has a good choice of shops and amenities. There are some fantastic walks to be enjoyed in the area with a selection of castles just asking to be discovered including Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle. Attractions worth jumping in the car for include Northumberland Country Zoo, Hadrian’s Wall, Cragside House and Gardens or why not take a boat over to the Farne Islands where you can look out for unusual birds and seals? Anywhere along the Northumberland Heritage Coast and you will find miles and miles of beaches to explore so make sure you pack a picnic and a bucket and spade! Poachers Pocket offers guests a relaxing and enjoyable stay in stunning surroundings.

The pretty village of Whittingham is idyllically located astride the delightful River Aln, nestling between Northumbria's Heritage coastline and its stunning National Parkland, just 7 miles west of Alnwick. The village boasts a lovely church on one bank of the river and the pele tower on the other, both of which were altered in the Gothic style last century. Great walks and enchanting riverside views are also available. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, and its beautiful gardens are nearby, whilst Alnwick itself boasts a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat whilst being within easy driving distance of the varying boat trips available to the famous Farne Islands and the miles of golden sandy beaches lining the coast. An excellent location from which to explore the delights of Northumberland and beyond.

    Only problem was the Wi-Fi — which meant we couldn’t watch films — but we read instead (and Alnwick has some great bookshops). Particularly enjoyed the garden.
