Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.

From the front door, you are able to enjoy very pleasant walks along the river and around the village. Warkworth has some really nice pubs and cafe's, all good food and friendly staff. The local beaches are amazing and well worth a visit and we can recommend the Craster kippers. All in all, a really great holiday.

The cottage has everything you could want for a very pleasant stay. The village is very attractive with a pleasant walk by the river. For longer walks be prepared for wet ground and mud in the winter months.

Nice touch from the owners with the voucher for the local chocolate shop - thank you . The cottage is in a great position overlooking the river and with a private garden that would be lovely in warmer weather . Great communication from the owner . We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
