About this property

Cherry Tree House is a lovely two-bedroom terraced cottage resting in the idyllic heart of the harbour town of Amble, Northumberland. The picturesque quayside and main street are just a short stroll away and are bustling with restaurants, shops and cafes. With a stylish interior peppered with the owner's own art, Cherry Tree House is a truly pet friendly home away from home. Perfect for couples, friends and families and of course their canine companion. Look forward to rustling up tasty meals in the well-equipped kitchen, ready to savour at the dining table for four over a bottle of celebratory fizz. Take advantage of warmer days and fire up the barbecue in the rear enclosed garden, where your four-legged friend can stretch their legs as you dine alfresco. As the evening cools, retreat to the sitting room where you can snuggle up on the plush seating and select your favourite film from the Smart TV, as your pooch snuggles up in front of the warming woodburning stove. Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you will find two beautifully decorated bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, both with plenty of storage for your belongings. In the morning, indulge in a blissful soak in the bath or freshen up with a shower, before enjoying a steaming cup of coffee out in the private front garden with seating as you plan the days itinerary. The Wellwood Arms, The Dock, and The Old Boathouse, which are famed for their fresh seafood and wines, are ideal for nights when you don't feel like cooking and great places to try the local cuisine. Stroll down the harbour to witness the local fishermen bringing in their catch of the day, and then stop by the harbour’s fish shop to buy some fresh fish and seafood to wow your loved ones with a delicious supper cooked up in the comfort of Cherry Tree House. Puffin Cruises offers a day trip to Coquet Island, where you'll be able to see Puffins and other unique species in their natural habitat. Amble North Pier is a great place for anglers to throw their lines while taking in the stunning views of the North Sea. Warkworth is a nearby town where you can explore the amazing Warkworth Castle, take in the river views from the Warkworth Medieval Bridge, practise your swing at the Warkworth Golf Club, or simply relax on the golden sands of Warkworth Beach and go for a swim or a paddle. In Alnmouth, you'll come across the lovely Old School Gallery, a former Ferryman's Hut, the Alnmouth Village Golf Club, the stunning Alnmouth Beach, and the picturesque England Coast Path, which runs from Amble to Bamburgh. Continue to Alnmouth. Stay at Cherry Tree House in Northumberland for an unforgettable experience.

In the mouth of the River Coquet, Amble is a great starting point for a tour of Northumberland. In addition to its marina, harbour, and sandy beaches, Amble is known for its coastal hikes to Hauxley Bird Sanctuary and Druridge Bay Country Park. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are caught by large fishing boats that moor along the harbour wall. An old fish hatchery on the side of the harbour is now a shellfish hatchery in order to replenish the supply of lobster and other shellfish in the area. There is an rspb reserve on Coquet Island, just a mile south of Amble, which is home to a huge population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks. In the immediate vicinity are the coastal settlements of Alnmouth and Craster, as well as numerous beautiful beaches, as well as the National Trust properties of Wallington Hall and Cragside.

Superb location, cottage was very clean and the information wallet was very helpful. The only downside was the electric shower but that was down to our personal preference. We would certainly stay at the cottage again if it was available.

It was conveniently situated only a few minutes walk to Amble high street and was very quiet. There were a couple of maintenance issues - the damaged flooring in the sitting/dining room needs sorting in our opinion, but we enjoyed our stay.

  • Geoff

The bed was very comfortable and so too the lounge furniture, and the kitchen is a lovely space. We became more and more at home and were sorry to leave. The location was perfect for us. Would agree that the bath is pleasing on the eye, but not entirely practical and the dining table chairs are heavy. Thank you for the information and books , especially Oswalds Way and The World History of Art.
