Smithy Cottage is a lovely open plan property, one of three stone built cottages, in an elevated spot close to Hadrian’s Wall. This delightful one bedroom cottage is perfect for couples looking to explore this beautiful region. Smithy Cottage has a lovely open plan living area, kitchen and dining area, a lovely cosy place to chill out and put your feet up, there’s a comfortable sofa and armchair and a TV with Freeview. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, hob, fridge and microwave and there’s a dining table and chairs too. Upstairs the double bedroom is very comfortable and nicely furnished with plenty of storage and the ensuite has a fabulous large walk-in shower. Outside is a small enclosed patio area and there’s also a shared paved patio area with picnic tables and barbecue.

This is an excellent base to explore the most interesting sections of Hadrian's Wall. Being midway along the stretch of The Wall, the Roman Forts of Housesteads, Vindolanda and Birdoswald can all be reached within a few minutes by car. Excellent location for wildlife, scenery and outdoor pursuits - great for walking and fishing and pony trekking, all available locally. Nearby outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a good range of amenities, good rail and bus connections. The market town of Hexham with its Saxon abbey is 13 miles east, whilst the Border city of Carlisle is 20 miles west. Easy access to Northumberland National Park, the Lake District, the Dales and the Scottish Borders. Golf, fishing and horse riding locally.
