Lapwing Cottage is highly praised for its spaciousness, comfort, and prime location near beautiful beaches and attractions. Guests appreciate the well-equipped and modern amenities, cosy bedrooms, and inviting atmosphere. While most reviews are positive, a few mention minor issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but these do not detract from the overall excellent experience.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, one review mentioned issues with dust, cobwebs, and a mouldy bath mat, suggesting room for improvement in cleaning standards.
The cottage's location is consistently lauded for its proximity to the beach and scenic views, with easy access to local attractions and amenities. The picturesque setting and convenient location contribute to its high rating.
Guests describe the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and welcoming, with a warm bedroom and a spa-like bathroom. Some guests noted the double bed's comfort could be improved, but overall, the cottage provides a relaxing environment.
The property is well-equipped with modern facilities, a spacious kitchen, and a private garden. A few guests suggested minor maintenance, such as a lock repair and a more comfortable double mattress, but these are outweighed by the positive feedback.
While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Nicely converted overall. Little disappointed with there being no welcome pack that is usually the norm these days.

How ever we did notice that it did smell which was quite strong at times. Otherwise we loved the cottage and would stay there again and recommend.
Simon
It is exceptionally cosy for a deep winter stay - the central heating responds to a flick of the thermostat and the wood-burning fire is amply supplied not only with logs but also kindling, firelighters and matches. Very highly recommended.
