⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We had a fantastic stay at Oswin Cottage and would happily return. The location is excellent – just a short stroll into Alnwick town centre, with Barter Books literally around the corner and a Co-op on the same road, making it incredibly convenient for picking up essentials or wandering into town. The cottage itself was the perfect size for our stay and felt warm, welcoming and very comfortable. Check-in was straightforward and hassle-free, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable – very important!Everything we needed was provided, and the house manual was clear. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches, including dish soap, towels and quality bedding, along with local guidebooks, board games and a well-stocked bookshelf. It really felt like the owners had considered what guests might need to make their stay enjoyable.Alnwick proved to be the perfect base for exploring Northumberland, especially the stunning coastline. We packed so much into our week and would highly recommend:Alnwick Gardens – absolutely beautiful, especially in the glorious sunshine. We actually enjoyed the gardens even more than the castle! It's worth noting they are separate attractions with separate admission tickets.Alnwick Castle – well worth visiting.Barter Books – an absolute must-see, one of the best bookshops we've visited. The lovely antique shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants in Alnwick. The Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Gardens – delicious food in a unique setting.Seahouses – we loved the wildlife boat trip and the spectacular coastal walk to Bamburgh.Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle – a beautiful stretch of coastline with a gentle walk that's suitable for most people.Lindisfarne (Holy Island) – fascinating history.Cragside House – an absolute highlight of our trip and a must-visit if you're in the area.We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a base to explore this beautiful part of Northumberland.
