Jubilee House has a rich grain of history dating back to the 1830’s as part of the old Alnwick coach works but now offers a very good standard of accommodation, sleeping up to four within a boutique hotel finish, whilst still providing that homely feel. It is perfect for short romantic breaks or a week’s bolt hole to explore all of Northumberland’s coast, castles and countryside.
Alnwick is a popular tourist destination and offers a wide range of facilities, all within distance of Jubilee House, including independent shops, restaurants and a wide variety of pubs. Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Castle, renowned for being the film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts. Alnwick Gardens with its grand cascade waterfall and tree house restaurant is also well worth a visit. Heading west brings you to the small picturesque town of Rothbury which sits nestled at the bottom of the Simonside and Lordenshaw Hills. This is a beautiful place for walkers and cyclists. The National Trust property of Cragside is popular with visitors. Also close by you can explore the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Heritage Coastline, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as the wild and lonely expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills. Lovely cottage but spoilt for us by the small issues of cleanliness. I needed to clean the kitchen doors that had red sticky drips all the way down. Extractor fan was greasy. Heavy dust on the fittings, skirting boards and the extractor fan in the bathroom. It needs a good deep clean. More than 1 toilet roll would have been expected.

We would absolutely recommend Jubilee House – it was one of the best properties we've stayed in across the UK. The house was spotlessly clean, incredibly spacious, and just a couple of minutes’ walk from the charming town centre, which felt like stepping back in time.We loved the variety of independent shops, fantastic pubs, and great restaurants nearby. A bit further out, there are some truly outstanding historical sites, all within easy driving distance. The train station is just a 10-minute drive, with direct access to the heart of Edinburgh in just over an hour.The house itself is beautifully decorated with a modern touch, despite being a characterful older property. There’s the bonus of a dedicated parking space – though the turn into it is a bit tight, so just something to be aware of.We didn’t use the kitchen beyond making tea and coffee, but it looked very well equipped with everything you'd need for proper cooking. There’s also a large TV downstairs.If we were to be extremely picky – and this certainly didn’t affect our enjoyment – a couple of end-of-season towels could do with refreshing, one bedroom lamp wasn’t working, and there were some creaky upstairs floorboards (though that’s expected in an older property).All in all, a five-star stay – we’d gladly return!

Excellent accomodation, everything we needed was at hand, clean, comfortable and quiet, on site parking always available, town and people recomended, maybe slightly hilly but not that much of a problem, everywhere within walking distance, plenty of eating places, pubs bars cafes etc. Would definitely return.
