The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

It was dark when we arrived so we didn't get an immediate feel for the surroundings, but when we got inside we were very pleasantly surprised. There had been a light left on for us, so we weren't fumbling in the dark, which was thoughtful. The first impression was that it was tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard, it was impeccably clean with a spacious kitchen/living area. The bedroom had plenty of storage with a dressing table and mirror. The bed was comfortable too. The shower in the bathroom was excellent. Once we had unpacked and set about making tea, it didn't go unnoticed how well the kitchen was stocked with every utensil and appliance you could possibly need. The settee was large and comfortable too. We stayed during a chilly and wet week, and the accommodation was always cosy. A big shout out for the goodies left for us, and the booklet left with information also proved very useful. A lovely quiet location, not too far off the beaten track, with a well-maintained driveway. All in all, a fabulous accommodation with no complaints from us; we are already talking of booking again for next year. Thank you.

The welcome pack was a wonderful surprise. Parking and accessibility was good. The fact it was dog friendly was great bonus. Conveniently located to access the sites. Wonderful stay went far too quickly.

Really quiet and great walks nearby. Pubs and Restaurants were really first class. Our main criticism would be about the bed - it was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. The kitchen was fully kitted out with everything you would need, and the welcome pack was well received. We would return in the future as overall it was a great holiday.
