Blackbird House in Alnwick is a beautifully decorated and spacious cottage, praised for its charm, comfort, and excellent location just a short walk from the town centre. Guests consistently highlight the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and restful atmosphere, making it ideal for relaxing breaks. The property is dog-friendly and offers easy access to local attractions and the coast. While most found the house clean and inviting, a few noted minor issues with lighting, outdoor space, and occasional maintenance. Overall, guests enjoyed their stays and would happily return or recommend the cottage.
Most guests found the property clean and well-presented, with crisp bedding and tidy rooms. However, a small number mentioned issues such as crumbs on kitchen seats and some grease on the cooker, suggesting occasional lapses in cleaning detail.
The location is highly praised, with guests loving the short walk to Alnwick's centre, easy access to the coast, and proximity to shops, pubs, and attractions. Parking is generally convenient, though a few found it tricky at times.
Guests consistently mention comfortable beds, spacious rooms, and a cosy atmosphere, especially with the fire on. The restful vibe and period decor add to the comfort, though some found the lounge a little dark.
The cottage is well-equipped with a good kitchen, dishwasher, and washing machine. Some minor issues were noted, such as a faulty toaster, lack of a bread knife, and the need for improved lighting and outdoor maintenance, but these did not detract significantly from the overall experience.
Guests appreciated thoughtful touches like dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and occasional gifts such as wine or dog biscuits. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Great place to stay, really comfy and welcoming. Well equipped kitchen, great location in a quiet street, no problems parking on the road. Quick 5 minutes walk into town or down to the fabulous Barter Books. Would definitely come back again.

We were pleasantly surprised by Blackbird House, brilliant location just 10 mins walk to town centre. Good amenities in the house, everything you need, dishwasher, washing machine etc. Only downside was parking, you couldn’t get right outside the house and had to park in various spaces on the street or round the corner. But I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

What a gorgeous cottage! It's just a few minutes' walk from Alnwick's shops and restaurants. There's a nice fish and chip shop nearby, Carlo's, and we visited the friendly Tanner's Arms, which has an impressive range of real ales. For a blow out fine dining experience, Sonnet is wonderful (we tried the lunch tasting menu). It's also worth visiting Barter Books (a huge secondhand bookshop in a former railway station) and The Accidental Bookshop, for a great selection of new titles. There are numerous coastal walks - we walked from Beadnell to The Ship Inn at Low Newton (a characterful pub famed for its delicious pies), and from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle (pop into the smokehouse for smoked seafood tk take away). The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and furnished, with really comfortable beds. We really enjoyed our stay, and found lots to do. We'll be back!
