Guests say

Methodist Cottage receives high praise for its beautiful decor, cosy atmosphere, and excellent facilities. Guests consistently mention the cottage’s cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and peaceful setting, making it an ideal base for exploring the North East, including Beamish Museum and Durham. The property is described as comfortable and quiet, with many guests returning for repeat stays. While a few minor maintenance issues and personal preferences regarding beds are noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with guests feeling at home and well cared for during their stay.

Most guests found the cottage spotless, clean, and well maintained, with only a couple of isolated comments about cobwebs and dust under furniture. The majority of reviews highlight a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is praised for its tranquillity and convenience for visiting local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Durham, and Newcastle. Some guests noted the lack of eateries within walking distance, but overall, the setting is considered peaceful and well placed for sightseeing.

Guests frequently describe the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and restful, with good quality furnishings and beds. A few mentioned personal preferences regarding mattress firmness and some sagging furniture, but these were exceptions rather than the rule.

The cottage is repeatedly described as very well equipped, with everything needed for a pleasant stay, including a well-resourced kitchen, strong WiFi, and ample hot water. Minor issues such as a broken kitchen clock and a gas fire requiring repair were mentioned but did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches such as hampers in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

A lovely stay in this clean and well equipped cottage in a quiet courtyard setting not far from Beamish museum, Hadrian's Wall, Tynemouth, Gibside NT property and various other locations

A great place to use as a base to explore the area. Especially convenient for Beamish museum and slightly further away Hadrian’s wall. Quiet location and well equipped with everything that is needed. Clean and well decorated. Owner very helpful. Would have no problems recommending to others or returning myself.
