Upstairs there is one king-size bedroom which is zip/link and can be made up to make a twin if required, as well as a further double room with a walk-in wardrobe. Closely associated with the fortunes of nearby Raby Castle and its owners is the pretty Teesdale village of Staindrop in the Yorkshire Dales. The castle, a monument that is open to the public, is one of the grandest in England. Extended and modified over the centuries, the heart of the castle is medieval with a walled garden and 200-acre deer park. Staindrop itself is home to many interesting shops, pubs and cafes, all set round its long village green. The popular market town of Barnard Castle is only five miles away, and is the setting for the Bowes Museum, in addition to its wide range of shops and tea-rooms. The area is a wonderful place for walkers and cyclists with numerous routes throughout the stunning scenery.

It is situated on the village green and was quiet and peaceful despite the main road running close by. Parking was never a problem. The cottage was very comfortable for the two of us, well stocked and with thoughtful provisions on arrival. It proved an ideal location for visiting town and country. There are supermarkets within reach and a good village shop if you need it. Staindrop is an attractive village en route to High Force and the delights of Teesdale. We found the owners attentive, responsive and ready to offer help if needed.

. Mike & Fiona have had these cottages for a number of years and within the welcoming pack they have provided some interesting history of the property. Mike & Fiona are great host, and very accommodating. They will respond to your text within a reasonable time with a positive response. We enjoyed our time at Corner Cottage, enjoyed the location. There is a great cafe just up the street which serve some excellent meals served but friendly staff. We would have no hesitation on a return visit to Corner Cottage.
