I loved my stay at Nook Cottage as a solo traveller and for short break in Durham. I was very comfortable and relaxed. It does face a road that is well used at rush hour but quite at other times and it was peaceful in the cottage and enjoyed siting in the sun in the garden. I could easily have stayed for several days more! The accommodation is very spacious for a one bedroom property. Dining is using a breakfast bar in kitchen ... or cosy tray snuggled on the big settee! Parking was very handy outside at the front (on very wide pavement and also meant passers by were not walking past windows and so handy for access onto road) for my normal sized 5 door hatchback which also just fitted into the rear parking. Wifi and TV worked very well and well supplied with sockets etc to help with work and pleasure. You do have neighbours but I like feeling part of the town. Very easy access to local shops and good bus access into town. I would definitely stay again at The Nook if I was visiting Durham again.

It was dirty, the bathroom especially had to be cleaned before we could use it. The kitchen was reasonably clean, however the crockery, utensils and glasses had to be cleaned before use. The floor in the kitchen had spillage marks, with the rug badly marked and worn. The matteress was lumpy and the bed frame was creeky, suggesting the frame needed retighting. There was too much clutter on the floors especially, with kitchen cupboards crammed full of useless equipment. Also, there was personal equipment stored in cupboard. The garden was unkempt, dead shrubs, perennials and the path had debris especially around the back door, which had not been swept for sometime. The back gate was awkward to use and needed rehanging with the support post securing. Couldn't use the cushions in the storage bins as they were grubby. We nearly walked away from the property on arrival, however after a long drive and inspection of the bedding and living room could see these areas were clean. On a positive note could see through the clutter that money had been spent on the property, unfortunately it had been left poor state for a rental property.
