The location is repeatedly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views, and easy access to Durham, Beamish, and the surrounding countryside.
Guests highlight the cottage’s cosy atmosphere, comfortable beds, and warmth, especially appreciating the log burner and conservatory. A minor note is made about steep stairs, which may not suit everyone.
The cottage is described as well-equipped, particularly the kitchen and living areas. The conservatory and garden are appreciated, though some mention the bathroom and shower could be updated.
Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as a warm welcome, milk, biscuits, flowers, and free entry to the owners’ farm. Please note, these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Browney Cottage. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook meals from scratch. The chairs in the lounge and the beds were very comfortable - always a bonus. We enjoyed sitting in the little sun room when we returned after a day out and looking at the hills on the other side of the valley.

A delightful cottage in a very pretty setting. We only stayed two nights to break a journey, but would have been happy to have a holiday here. Just one little warning - as is true of many of these old cottages, the stairs are steep. So it may not be suitable for anyone with really dodgy knees or hips. On the other hand it would be great for a family with young children with free access to the owner's Hall Hill Farm attraction
