Bolton Farm (not actually a farm) is well placed for exploring Durham and the surrounding area. The property is well presented, but falls short of the "Luxury" category (having stayed in several properties that most definitely are). We stayed at The Stables during a recent heatwave, and were thankful the property remained relatively cool during that time.• The beds/mattresses have seen better days, and only just fit in the bedrooms. • There are no wardrobes in the bedrooms, just a small hanging rack with a few hangers. • The fridge/freezer is rather small considering the property sleeps 4.• The main TV doesn't support Apple TV, ITVX, etc.• The shower temperature is tricky to control.• The kitchen is a good size, but a little sparce in terms of pots and pans etc. We had to ask for a corkscrew!• Very low (cold) water pressure. • The directions to the property are incorrect on cottages.com (even the property owner did not recognise them). Use What Three Words: ///riding.hurricane.succeed• There's no guest EV charging facility, even though it's listed on cottages.com• The Italian restaurant isn't opposite the property, it's a 2 minute stroll up the road. The gate to Bolton Farm is opposite No. 17 Alum Waters.• Proximity to the road means that passing vehicles could disturb a light sleeper.

We had a wonderful 4 nights at Bolton farm and we found it to be a great base for exploring Durham and Northumberland. The cottage is great and we used the hot tub every evening. The log fire was great too, with a well equipped kitchen and modern spacious bathroom. The courtyard is private and the area was very peaceful. The Italian restaurant next door was well worth a visit and the local shops are only a short drive away.

The place was perfect! Such a cute little cottage! The hot tub was great and looking out to see all the sheep and animals was great! Fireplace also made it extremely cozy!
