If you're looking for a place that when you walk through the door gives you a warm, cosy hug then October Cottage is for you!

We were lucky enough to come across this little gem when searching for a last minute family holiday this summer and we struck GOLD! The cottage is in a fantastic location, set back from the bustling main street. The decor is beautiful throughout with some serious attention to detail. The kitchen held everything we needed from a cafeterie for morning coffee (not every letting has one as we've come to discover!) to roasting trays for a mid-week roast sat around the large dining table. The cosy lounge is ideal for watching the world go by and relaxing in after a long day of adventure. The enclosed garden to the rear was perfect for little legs to whizz around in burning off extra energy before bed! The beautiful decor continued upstairs with three good sized rooms, all with plenty of storage, comfortable beds and blankets and cushions in abundance. The shower and bath were 'next level' and both felt like we were staying in a boutique hotel when in fact the whole place was far better than that! Middleton itself had lots to offer on the doorstep, we were spoilt for choice in the deli and the little children's playground was ideal for a shirt wander and enjoyed by our little ones. Faye, our host was really friendly and attentive - her and Craig really have got every base covered and in style! The milk and bubbles on arrival were very welcome and very much appreciated - thank you. We hope to return...maybe without the children

On arrival the property was in pristine condition, absolutely spotless.

I was disappointed in the welcome pack( essentials) but only because we have had such great ones from Sykes properties before. It would have been nice to have had some milk in the fridge etc but there is a shop close by, just meant we had to go out before putting the kettle on after a long journey. The property information was helpful and we referred to it on a number of occasions. A lovely private garden made a difference as we had some pleasant early evenings out there. High quality furnishings made it extremely comfortable but one gripe is it would be helpful to have a soap tray in the shower and somewhere to hold shampoo. Just tiny things though. I will definitely recommend. A lovely stay!

The cleanest and best maintained cottage I have ever stayed in!

We took oven gloves, bin bags, tea towel and toilet roll as most places don’t have enough but we shouldn’t have bothered, this place has absolutely everything we needed, including milk in the fridge and a bottle of Prosecco! The bed sheets are the softest I’ve ever slept in although the beds are quite firm (not necessarily a bad thing if that’s your preference). Little side note, the water gets scalding hot when you’re washing up so take care! Lovely village and the cottage is very well placed to access the shops and pubs. We expected to struggle to park on coronation weekend but we got parked right outside. Faye text on our first day to make sure everything was ok and seemed lovely!

Absolutely stunning cottage- spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, warm, cosy and the beds were super comfortable.

Had absolutely everything you needed. My youngest loved playing out in the garden and myself and my husband enjoyed having a pot of tea outside the front taking in the views. Evenings were spent by the log burning fire in the cosy living room after a bubble bath in the beautiful bathroom. The village was perfect and had everything you needed-we loved Kaylees bakery. Perfect location for exploring- we loved low force, high force, gibsons cave and the woodland area with waterfall that was just around the corner from the cottage. We didn’t want to leave- highly recommend to anyone and would definitely book again in the future. Thank you Faye for the perfect stay.

I highly recommend this lovely cottage.

A delightful Christmassy welcome pack greeted us when we arrived. The fire was lit and made it warm and cosy. There are two great pubs in the village. The Blacksmiths Arms - very friendly serving good choice of ales and wines and pizzas. The Crown was serving delicious Street food- I recommend the Spanish Chicken cooked in a wood fired oven. The Rose and Crown in Romaldkirk serves great food. Well worth a visit to Middleton in Tees - great Sunday Lunch at Teesdale Hotel - would recommend booking. Lots of interesting shops. Steer clear of the Forresters - not a good experience. Thank you to the hosts for a fabulous pre Christmas break
