About this property

William Cottage is a characterful cottage, dating back to the 1700s in the village of Metfield, Suffolk. This two-bedroom cottage is the perfect place for a family or group of friends to explore the Waveney Valley on foot or by bicycle; by car, the historic counties of Norfolk and Suffolk can be discovered. The property is set in a quiet spot, has retained its period features, and offers a woodburning stove for those snug nights in. As you arrive, there is ample off-road parking and a front porch space to leave walking boots and coats. The living/dining room is well-furnished to relax and socialise with armchairs, a sofa, a Smart TV, board games, a woodburning stove, and a dining seating. Moving on through the property, in the well-equipped kitchen you can make heart-warming meals with the electric oven, induction hob and microwave, whilst a dishwasher provides a fuss-free clean. Head just outside to the rear garden where you can find a spacious laundry room and shower room with WC. A few steps further bring you to mature shrubberies and patios where you can unwind with a glass of wine on the plentiful garden furniture. As the evening cools, retire up the wooden stairs to find the bathroom, hosting a bath for a relaxing soak. When eyes grow heavy, there are two light and airy bedrooms with a king-size and a twin bedroom to choose from; the twin offers zip/link features, possible to form a double, providing flexible sleeping arrangements. Awaken with a cup of tea in the rear garden as the chef of the group prepares a home-cooked breakfast and plans are made for the day ahead. Just paces away, you will find a well-stocked shop with baked goods and groceries and in the opposite direction, past the church, a tearoom to enjoy; for a wider selection of amenities take a drive into the historic small town of Harleston or Halesworth. Harleston is an ancient town in Suffolk that is home to many tourist attractions. One of the most popular attractions is the Food Museum, which is a great place to learn about the history of food and how it is prepared. Another popular attraction is Luke's Wood, which is a beautiful forest that is perfect for a nature walk or picnicking, and there is also the unique option of visiting the Camel Oasis, open between April and October, where camel and donkey rides are available. From the property you can enjoy a day spent at the Norfolk or Suffolk coast, with Southwold, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings and the Norfolk Broads within easy driving distance. For a holiday home brimming with character, choose William Cottage.

Metfield is a charming Suffolk village near the Norfolk border. The name of the settlement comes from'meadow field,' and it dates back to Saxon times, making it an excellent base for history buffs. Metfield Village Hall is a friendly location that serves local ales and has a convenience store that sells fresh cakes, coffee, and other necessities. Visit Winks Meadow Nature Reserve for a relaxing walk and birdwatching, and venture outside of the hamlet to Camel Park Oasis for a unique ride. Visit the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum for a diverse collection of machinery, as well as the Homersfield Totem Pole.

Comfortable.Floors upstairs creak quite a lot but did not bother us. Very handy convenience store just down the road that stocked most things.Could also borrow jigsaws to do,and return afterwards. Overall a nice property.

Metfield is a lovely little village with a well stocked community shop as well as a cafe for brunch, lunch, tea or coffee. The cottage is well equipped and there are so many wonderful places to visit not far away. We particularly enjoyed Southwold, Aldeburgh and Norwich. We will be back!
