Wells-next-the-Sea is a picturesque coastal resort on the North Norfolk coast, complete with a sandy beach, colourful harbour, and lovely pinewoods for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation for the whole family. Location: on the outskirts of Holkham National Nature Reserve and inside the magnificent Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty describes this town. There is a beautiful array of boutique shops, supermarkets, gastropubs, fine restaurants, delis, and traditional fish and chips at the Quay, as well as a historic harbour, the Buttlands town green, the magnificent Holkham Hall, and the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway. In addition to the nearby Norfolk Coastal Path, Holkham Village, and Burnham Market, visitors to the area may also easily travel to other major locations in Norfolk such as the Norfolk Broads and the heart of nearby Norwich.

As a dog owner this was little frustrating and made the small courtyard even smaller. Also some of the bowels and plates had food residue on them so clearly hadnât been checked after cleaning in the dishwasher. The window sills and windows in the main bedroom were not particularly clean either. Saying that we did have a lovely stay at Fishmanâs Retreat with plenty of internal space and good facilities. TV was a bit temperamental and wifi streaming wasnât great but the other facilities made up for it. Finally the step in the kitchen is a definite trip hazard. I nearly fell twice during stay and Iâm fit and active. Highlighting the step with a coloured strip would help.

A short, charming walk to the town and seafront. Excellent Chinese takeaway down the road and a well stocked Co-Op a short walk. Very clean and immaculate. Two bathrooms for a small property is the high water mark of excellence! A few niggles: there is no signage identifying the house itself or the individual apartments. I had to ring the owner for information. She answered and was very helpful, checking later that all was well. There is a step between kitchen area which is a real trip hazard. A few kitchen basics are needed: tea towels, small/medium frying pan, rack to dry dishes. Overall, though a fantastic place.
