Set off along the 1km private path to the beach, and keep your eyes peeled for the common seal colony that inhibits this stretch of coast, regularly popping up offshore or on the beaches.

This semi-detached property is part of a pair of cottages that can be hired together for larger groups. Laid out over two storeys and fully renovated throughout, this holiday home has a relaxed rural elegance and a homely and welcoming ambiance. Light and bright with plenty of character, the lounge is a hub of relaxation. Snuggle up on the deep sofas to read or watch TV, wood burner lit on chilly evenings. Prepare home-cooked meals in the spacious and fresh kitchen, then perch at the breakfast bar or adjourn to the atmospheric dining room next door for memorable mealtimes. A private garden to the rear offers ample space for lazy afternoons, BBQs and evening drinks outside, watching the stars appear overhead. As night falls, get cosy under the covers of the two double bedrooms on the first floor. In keeping with many houses of this era, the family bathroom is downstairs.

Backed by trees and sand dunes, Waxham beach is a true gem, with the added bonus of being dog friendly year round. There are many walking routes from the farm, including the coastal path where you can watch for seals offshore. During the breeding season, from November to February, you may see seals and their pups on the beach or at the nearby beach of Horsey Gap (1.5 miles). Alternatively head inland to explore the waterways, nature trails and cycle routes of the Norfolk Broads, with Horsey Mere (2 miles) the closest broad.
