    About this property

This property is located 2 miles from the pretty town of Whalley, and is ideal for exploring the Ribble Valley.
In the heart of the Ribble Valley and converted from a 19th century barn, these holiday homes, all with wonderful views, are situated on the owners’ working sheep farm (owners offer lamb feeding March until May) and set in 170 acres of environmentally managed farmland in the heart of the Forest of Bowland (aonb). With walks from the doorstep, the area is also popular for cyclists and mountain bikers. There are several fisheries nearby including trout and fly fishing, and Whalley Golf Club is less than a mile away. Situated on a bridle path, there is stabling available on site (to be arranged directly with owner). Children will love Brockholes Nature Reserve, Bowland Wild Boar Park and the Roman museum at Ribchester. There is also a dry ski slope nearby at Pendle. Other places of interest include Gawthorpe Hall, Samlesbury Hall, Townley Hall and Clitheroe with its castle and museum. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are both within an hour’s drive. There is a golf course approximately 1 mile away which is open to non-members. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

"We knew the cottage would be small, but it was perfect for us and one spaniel. We loved the location with easy walks and places to explore not far away. Best of all was being on a working sheep farm with really charming owners.Roy and Kath could not have been more welcoming and kind. Fresh hens eggs ( free range) delivered and also two field mushrooms ! To add to the two I had found !We loved the week and exploring a new area. Apart from the motorway ( M6 )and road works it was wonderful and we would love to come again if things go our way ."

"Lovely cottage very well equipped with a generous welcome gift of wine and chocolates. Beautiful scenery and walks on the doorstep and very friendly owners who live in farm"

"Plenty of things to do nearby, about 30 minutes drive. Several way markers for walking hills or fields to nearby villages but pathways difficcult to follow as not maintained. These markers only point in a vague direction. Not helpfull. Surrounding area is very nice and some towns are also quite close eg Clitheroe and bit further is Lancaster and worth a visit. Plenty of inns in every direction for food and drink. Whalley abby and gardens also worth a visit. As this cottage is on a working farm is was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay"

"Roy (the Farmer) and his wife were first class hosts and very helpful in every way. The cottage was in first class condition and had every amenity you could ask for and is very well designed in my opinion. We took our very lively dog with us and once we got to know the area we were able to take him on 'off the lead' walks in one or two areas close to the farm. However we would not take him again to a working farm as the distractions are too much for him.Altogether a very enjoyable few days in the country which is fabulous."

"The Stable was a small one bedroom cottage on a farm in the beautiful Ribble Valley the nearest small town was Whalley a very nice village with everything you could need. The nearest big town was Clitheroe which is a lovely tourist town at the foot of Pendle Hill a magnificent hill known for the Lancashire witches. The cottage had a lovely atmosphere in the grounds of the farm which was a working farm with sheep and lambs, hens clucking about the farm yard right outside the cottage door. The farmer gave me some eggs, he and his wife were very warm and friendly and I would go back there to stay."
