This cottage in Windermere is highly praised for its stunning lake views, spacious layout, and excellent location close to Bowness, making it a great base for exploring the Southern Lakes. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and ample parking. While the steep hill and some minor maintenance issues are noted, the property is generally clean, warm, and inviting. Quick responses to any problems and repeat bookings reflect guest satisfaction. The property is especially suited to those who enjoy walking and value scenic surroundings.
Most guests found the property clean and well-prepared, with improvements made in response to earlier feedback. Some isolated issues with spiders and musty smells in the basement bedrooms were mentioned, but these were not widespread.
The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, offering beautiful views and easy access to Bowness and the lake. The steep hill is noted, but most guests felt the views and proximity outweighed this challenge.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with cosy living areas and good beds. Some mentioned dampness in the basement bedrooms and the need for new mattresses and pillows, but overall comfort was rated positively.
The property is well-equipped for self-catering, with two bathrooms, parking, and a functional kitchen. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues (TV, oven, damp, lack of washing machine), but these did not detract significantly from their stay.
A few guests mentioned the absence of welcome packs, hand wash, and extra toilet rolls, which are sometimes expected. While some basic supplies were provided, gifts or extra touches are not guaranteed.

Although a little tricky to find initially, this property is in a great location, ideally situated to walk into Bowness. Yes it is on a very steep hill, anyone with mobility issues would struggle. parking for 2 cars - which was great. The apartment is clean and spacious and very well equipped. However, the main bin in the kitchen had not been emptied from the previous occupants. The bedrooms which are downstairs in the basement were good, however, very damp, cold and smell of damp. This wasn't too much of an issue, as it was 31 degrees outside and no air upstairs. The bedding, towels and our clothes all felt damp. This would be a problem in the colder months - but very welcome to us, this weekend!

Great accommodation. Good location, affordable, view of the lake. Walking distance from pubs, restaurants and Bowness waterfront.Facilities are great. Fridge, freezer, good cooker, two bathrooms. Two parking spaces are a real bonus for a place in the Lakes as well. We will definitely be back.Only thing to consider is the steep hill to the house and the fact that there's a lot of steps in the apartment. Location and setting are perfect for walkers but would be cautious for anyone with limited mobility.

Really nice property. View from the dining room of lake Windermere is special and worth the price of admission alone. Property is not without its flaws, WiFi is sub par at best and the downstairs bedrooms are pretty damp. In terms of location your mobility and desire to use a car will determine if this property is for you. The hill down to Bowness is quite steep and the walk back up could be challenging for most. In its defence it’s a relatively short walk and you have access to all the amazing shops bars and restaurants Bowness has to offer. Personally would recommend and would stay again but very much depends on your circumstances
