Set close to the idyllic shores of Coniston Water, Ransome Lodge is the perfect springboard for visiting Cumbria and the Lake District. Situated within Crake Valley Holiday Park, it is set back from the lake with treetop views of the Coniston Mountains from the decked sitting-out area, making it perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Parking is also available, with parking being on an incline and the gravel path to the front door is quite steep at first. Explore the many quirky little villages that the area has to offer, or venture out and explore Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere, which are within easy reach. Further afield on the west coast are many other towns and villages that are well worth exploring, as well as Wast Water and then over the Hardknott Pass back to Coniston. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Comfortable and cosy.Location is good but need a car to access restaurants/pubs.Not suitable for anyone with limited mobility outside. Once inside ok.Parking a bit steep by lodge.

Absolutely beautiful lodge in a beautiful location with so much to explore just on the door step! The lodge itself was beautiful, it was very clean and well looked after. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it’s not as steep as people made out but it wouldn’t be wheel chair friendly. It’s a shame the owners are selling this place, as with a bit of an upgrade and maybe shove a hot tub in there they could easily make triple the money with how beautiful the location is and this lodge has so much potential! But overall I thank the owners for a beautiful stay. There was a few spiders but cellar spiders, which I think are great as they’re a lot of nobel black widows around which the cellar spiders will get before they get to you so anyone complaining about the spiders, be grateful they’re there and these spiders will absolutely not bother you, they’re simply there for the bigger spiders. Free pest control! Thank you again ❤️

Ransome Lodge is in a great location and is lovely; however, it needs a deep clean!!!! We found mouldy blueberries in the sofa, the table mats still had food on them and there was a strong smell of stale urine from both bathrooms (perhaps because they are carpeted?). Honestly, great location - close to Coniston, lots of walks, the wildlife that came to visit us at the lodge was great. But the owners need to take better care of it The welcome gift had hit chocolate sachets that were already open!!!!
