Set close to the idyllic shores of Coniston Water, Ransome Lodge is the perfect springboard for visiting Cumbria and the Lake District. Situated within Crake Valley Holiday Park, it is set back from the lake with treetop views of the Coniston Mountains from the decked sitting-out area, making it perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Parking is also available, with parking being on an incline and the gravel path to the front door is quite steep at first. Explore the many quirky little villages that the area has to offer, or venture out and explore Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere, which are within easy reach. Further afield on the west coast are many other towns and villages that are well worth exploring, as well as Wast Water and then over the Hardknott Pass back to Coniston. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Ransome Lodge is in a great location and is lovely; however, it needs a deep clean!!!! We found mouldy blueberries in the sofa, the table mats still had food on them and there was a strong smell of stale urine from both bathrooms (perhaps because they are carpeted?). Honestly, great location - close to Coniston, lots of walks, the wildlife that came to visit us at the lodge was great. But the owners need to take better care of it The welcome gift had hit chocolate sachets that were already open!!!!

A truly wonderful week spent at Ransome Lodge. So tranquil with first class comfort and the accommodation was spacious and lacked for nothing - except maybe a more reliable TV signal. Local amenities are just a short drive away and the scenery is stunning. Coniston Water is literally just across the road. Take your pick for whatever floats your boat - hillwalking or messing around on the water. Our stay coincided with a mini heatwave so we had to settle for the beer gardens!!Highly recommended and would definitely return.
