Guests say

Holy Waters offers a charming and peaceful stay in a picturesque riverside village, with easy access to the Lake District and local amenities. Guests consistently praise the tranquil location, unique church conversion, and well-equipped kitchen. The cottage is comfortable and cosy, with a lovely garden and convenient parking. Some areas, particularly the bathroom and kitchen, would benefit from refurbishment, and a few guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance. Overall, Holy Waters provides a delightful base for exploring the Lakes, especially for those seeking a relaxing village atmosphere.

Several guests found the property clean and cosy, but a notable number reported issues such as the cottage not being cleaned on arrival, lingering damp smells, dirty kitchenware, and missed hoovering. While the majority found it acceptable, there is room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its riverside setting, proximity to village amenities, and easy access to the Lake District and public transport. Guests consistently highlight the peaceful atmosphere and convenience.

Most guests found the cottage comfortable, warm, and cosy, with good heating and pleasant living spaces. Some mentioned issues for those with mobility difficulties and minor inconveniences such as traffic noise in one bedroom.

The property is generally well-equipped, with a good kitchen, linens, and parking. However, several guests noted tired décor, maintenance issues (e.g., bulbs, TV remote, appliances), and the need for bathroom and kitchen updates.

Some guests mentioned the presence of complimentary milk sachets (though out of date) and would have appreciated a welcome pack. While thoughtful touches may occasionally be provided, they are not guaranteed.

One of four properties imaginatively created in this former place of worship, Holy Waters has been cleverly designed to make best use of the architectural details of the church. The setting of the house is delightful, the garden running alongside the River Gowan, the presence and sound of flowing water always a welcome backdrop for a relaxing holiday. A lengthy refurbishment of the property has resulted in first class accommodation, rather quirky in design with exposed walls and beams contrasting yet complimenting the original church features, the arched windows particularly attractive. The open plan living area creates a very social, comfortable feel on the ground floor, the dining table perfectly placed for enjoying the garden and river aspect. All your self catering needs are taken care of here at Holy Waters and for those with young ones, a collection of toys and DVDs has been thoughtfully provided to get your holiday off to the very best of relaxing starts

Very nice house near the river, the garden is nice, but the trees need cutting back as the sun can't get to the gardenand you can only use a very small part of the garden

Comfortable cottage in excellent position with wild garden overlooking river. Short walk to station and bus routes and to local pub with excellent food. Handy shop, newsagents, bakery and cafe. Delightful river walks and up to top of Reston Scar. Also walked Dales way to Bowness. Great to see so many swifts, swallows and housemartins and wonderful to hear nesting curlews.
