About this property

Wansfell Retreat is a beautiful, high specification lodge at Limefitt Park, enjoying impressive uninterrupted views across the valley to the fells and sleeps six guests plus an infant in a travel cot. There is a spacious deck from which to relax and unwind after a day exploring the local villages and attractions. The perfect place to enjoy a welcome break from everyday life and just kick back and drink in those views, perhaps with your morning coffee or evening sundowner. Your lodge is located in one of the loveliest parks in the area – surrounded by the Troutbeck Valley, with beautiful fells and views all around. Only four miles from Windermere village, a bustling vibrant centre with shops, pubs and cafes; or a mile further on to the cosmopolitan Bowness with steam cruises, restaurants and shops. Back at Limefitt, you have two great local pubs in walking distance, there’s a dog-friendly pub and small shop on site, children’s playground and nearby you can enjoy pony-trekking with a third party provider too. You can literally walk from your front door up on the pathways above to the Garburn Pass and onto High Street. Or if you fancy a potter around lovely quiet lanes there is plenty to choose from. On the other side of the valley is Wansfell Pike and over to Ambleside. Driving to Ambleside is around four miles, and Glenridding the village on the shores of Ullswater is ten miles away. A wonderful place to make special memories with your loved ones

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

The Lodge is definitely the best we’ve stayed in, with fabulous views, privacy and convenience for a really relaxing break. We’ve stayed here before and would definitely stay again and would highly recommend Wansfell Retreat to any new visitors to the Limefitt Park site. The only improvement we could think of to assist with dogs and the elderly or the disabled would be to stretch each step out to make them more user friendly, as on some other lodges on the site. We take a ramp for our dog to use, but not ideal in rainy weather. This is by no means a criticism just hopefully a helpful suggestion. Looking forward to a return visit, because Wansfell Lodge is truly a relaxing Retreat on a beautiful Park.

The site was quiet, clean and the facilities were just what we wanted. The pub on site was friendly with a pleasant atmosphere and the food choice was extensive and tasty. The lodge was roomy and had everything we wanted. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The site situation gave us easy access to Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick as well as Brockhole which was great for our grandchildren. We will definitely be returning to this Sykes cottages site.

Lodge was well equipped had pretty much everything we needed. Location was lovely. Great for relaxing or walking. Park is hilly so if you have mobility requirements check before booking. We had a wheelchair, paths were ok but there are hills to the shop and the pub.
