About this property

Stonegarth Cottage is a ground floor apartment in the heart of the Cumbrian village of Grasmere.

This modern apartment offers high-standard, centrally located accommodation for a couple looking to enjoy the Lake District experience with plenty of amenities on their doorstep.

Offering open-plan living in a one level apartment, the quality of the accommodation is of a high standard throughout. The living area offers all the amenities needed of a quality kitchen, separated from the sitting area by a neat little breakfast bar. The layout makes the best use of its space, meaning that whether you are conjuring up a culinary masterpiece or chilling out in front of the TV, you can look out to the patio doors and enjoy views of the garden beyond. The cosy bedroom is ideal for a couple, the zip/link king size bed bed can also be converted to a twin bedded room by prior request.

The property is a ground floor apartment so it shares the secluded enclosed garden space, which includes a relaxing patio space and a cosy table for two.

The location of the apartment is ideal for those who want to keep the use of their car to a minimum. A few minutes’ walk takes you to Grasmere, one of the most popular destinations in the Lake District, with shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. Sample some world famous Grasmere gingerbread, or perhaps visit the burial site of William Wordsworth or indeed Dove Cottage, the writer’s home for a number of years.

Further afield, Windermere is barely half an hour’s drive adjacent to the world-famous lake, offering all the energetic countryside activities you could desire, or perhaps take a more relaxed approach with a trip on the lake itself.

Ideally positioned to keep travelling to a minimum, Stonegarth Cottage offers a perfect spot for a couple’s getaway to the Lake District.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the l village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth. Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

Comfortable with excellent kitchen. We used Stonegarth's excellent location in Grasmere for walks to Ambleside, Easedale Tarn and more strenuous ones to Chapel Stile. The accomodation is also minutes from very good IPA at the local brew pub (Goodsport) or coffee at Freda & Rays. There is also a bus stop at the the end of the road for trips further afield without the car. Hosts friendly and helpful and offered the use of their garage for my bike which I had brought for 'the Struggle' to Kirkstone pass. Would stay again.

Perfect for walks, and a superb bus service yards away. Comfortable accommodation with everything one would need and welcoming hosts. This was our second stay here and I hope it won’t be our last.

The cottage was very comfortable and spacious, located in the centre of Grasmere ideal for all local amenities in the village also for visiting other locations in the Lakes. Safe private parking. This was our second visit to the cottage and have booked again for next year.
