The grand west-facing windows make it the perfect place to sit by the fire and enjoy the sunset. The kitchen overlooks the woodland gardens, where deer visit daily, and the bedroom and living room window seats even have a glimpse of Lake Windermere. A hairdryer is also provided for your convenience during your stay.
Perched in an elevated position, Crag View is a first-floor apartment in a stunning Victorian manor house, with many of its original features still intact. The property is set in 3-acre grounds of mature communal gardens and woodland. There is a dedicated off-street parking space and ample spaces for other cars. Crag View is the perfect Lake District getaway for a couple or a family.
Within a short walk is Lake Windermere, less than 200m, accessed via Borrans Park, a popular spot for a picnic. Make sure to visit the 1st century AD remains of the Galava Roman fort just next door. For the ramblers in your family, many of the fells can be accessed on foot from your front door, including Todd Crag with iconic views down Lake Windermere.
On your doorstep, you have the Waterhead pier – a perfect photo moment. Here you can catch one of the lake cruises, or grab a bite to eat or a coffee from one of the surrounding cafés. Head into Ambleside itself, a short and easy 10-minute stroll. There are many shops, traditional Lakeland pubs, restaurants and two cinemas. The Michelin-starred The Old Stamp House restaurant is a special visit; it was named the best restaurant in the world by TripAdvisor in 2021.
Public transport is readily available if you want to leave your car. Hop onto one of the open-top buses and see more of the surrounding countryside. Pubs and restaurants ¼ mile, shops ¾ mile, beach 23½ miles.

Lovely setting just across the road from Borran’s Park. Lovely and clean apartment. You will hear any upstairs guests if they’re moving around but it didn’t disturb me for more than five or ten minutes at a time. Comfy bed in the master bedroom. Water pressure in the master bathroom was adequate even for someone with long hair such as myself. I didn’t cook much except for using the microwave. Washing machine was easy to figure out. I arrived by bus from Windermere and the closest bus stop was Waterhead Pier, which is just about a seven minute walk from the rental (the bus stop is located close to where the road splits in two so make sure that you head towards the water and take the road (Borran’s road) closest to the lake to get to the rental). The entrance to Borran’s Court is shared by other homes so just look for the sign on the pillar directing you to Borran’s Court and head up the driveway on the left. The Wateredge Inn on the lake has a decent pub. It’s about a 10 minute to 15 minute walk into the centre of Ambleside itself if you go right as you exit the property. I did the entire trip without a car and I had no problems using public transportation or walking.

Nice apartment slightly out of town but within easy reaching distance to some great walks. Clean and comfortable with good kitchen utensils.

Good location. On arrival the hallway and stairs was dirty and remained so throughout our stay. Heating was only set at 7 degrees so it was cold fortunately found how to turn thermostat up. Ensuite shower difficult to control. Feel that apartment over rated as luxurious more comfortable.
