Unfortunately we can't leave the review we hoped to.Upon arrival, we realised the adverts over-emphasis on "private" was entirely misleading. The photos of the lodge don't give the buyer any idea of how close the lodges are together. We were upset to find that there were up to three other lodges completely side-by-side on site, with one lodge overlooking ours to the left and obscuring the Skiddaw view - not mentioned in the advertisement. For example, the description repetitively highlights the lodges 'privacy' "private parking, decking and fantastic views", and how "outside you have private decking, private parking and amazing fell views." giving the impression that the lodges were considerably spaced apart rather than squeezed together. Furthermore, the valley view is obscured by the sight of the sheep farm and home of the owner, which also is not mentioned in the advertisement. Already dismayed by the falsity of the photos taken, and having read the reviews with the cleanliness, we thought nothing else could go wrong. We were further disappointed upon entering the lodge, specifically the kitchen and open-plan living room area. We went to sit down at the table to relax after our 2 and a half hour journey and the chairs were covered with food, crumbs and dirt. Dead flies lingered in the dust, which coated the lamp shades above the table, which lacked a light bulb (an open light fitting). On going to make a cup of tea, we noticed fat residue dripping down from the extractor fan, pooling onto the hob below (also had a light bulb and fitting missing). Already being more than disappointed, we went to make some toast, only to find hair on the chopping boards, and crumbs scattered along the counter tops, which had been neglected when cleaned.Moving on to the first bathroom, we lifted up the seat to find urine dribbles on the toilet seat. In the fashion of something from a horror movie, when looking upwards, the skylight was plastered with cob webs, which we later found was home to a Noble False Widow Spider. In the shower, shockingly, there was an open light fixture, its bulb bulging out above, leaving it open to condensation. The left-hand patio door leading onto the 'private' decking (where everyone passing by can look into), had finger and hand prints pressed into the glass and wouldn't open unless lifted upwards with force. Leading onto the decking where the furniture was scattered, and unbecoming of the advert, it was tied to the decking balustrades. Therefore, we couldn't move the furniture into the sun, and into its designated spot as shown in the pictures. Leaving on a cheerful note, the walks near the lodge were breath-taking, and the local food was amazing.
