Guests say

Thwaite Hill Cottage is a charming, cosy retreat in a peaceful location just outside Keswick, offering stunning views of Skiddaw and easy access to beautiful walks and Whinlatter Forest. Guests consistently praise its comfortable, homely feel, well-equipped kitchen, and excellent heating. The 'upside down' layout and rustic character add to its appeal. While some mention minor cleanliness and maintenance issues, and parking can be tight, the overall experience is highly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most guests found the cottage clean and comfortable, though a few noted issues such as a fusty smell in one bedroom, some missed cleaning in the kitchen and living room, and cobwebs in the utility room. These were minor and did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

The location is widely praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views, and proximity to Keswick, Whinlatter Forest, and excellent walking routes. Guests love the peaceful setting and easy access to local attractions.

Guests describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and homely, with good heating and a log burner. Some mention firm or uneven mattresses and older bedding, but overall comfort is rated highly, with many guests looking forward to returning.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen appliances, Wi-Fi, games, and a log burner. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues such as a slow-draining shower and overgrown garden, but these did not significantly impact their stay.

Basic supplies like toilet roll and hand soap are provided, but guests should bring their own essentials such as tea, coffee, and sugar. No gifts or welcome packs are mentioned, so these cannot be guaranteed.

We found the cottage to be musty and lacking freshness when we arrived but luckily this was solved after a day or two of opening windows and airing. One of the beds is very hard and could do with a topper. Not at all comfortable. Maybe some lighter weight duvets for summer, the ones on the beds are heavy and lumpy and seem very old. There was only one wine glass and one prosecco glass that was cracked. Only one frypan that has a badly damaged surface so everything sticks. The outdoor setting was filthy so we didn't use it. Utility room that has the washing machine needs a good clean. The location and upstairs living is very pleasant with lovely views and the garden is also lovely. Shame so many things let the place down.
