Thwaite Hill Cottage is praised for its peaceful location, stunning views, and rustic charm. Guests appreciate the comfortable lounge, central heating, and good Wi-Fi. The upside-down layout adds to its uniqueness, and it's well-situated for walks and exploring the Lakes. Some guests noted areas for improvement, but overall, the cottage offers a homely and enjoyable stay.
Cleanliness is generally satisfactory, with some guests finding the cottage clean enough. However, there are mentions of areas needing better attention, such as the utility room, kitchen equipment, and some aspects of hygiene. No persistent issues suggest a moderate level of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its quiet setting, proximity to Keswick, and easy access to walks and forests. The views from the cottage are frequently mentioned as a highlight, contributing to a high score for location.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the central heating adjustable. However, there are mixed reviews about the firmness of the beds and some mention of a fusty smell in one bedroom, which slightly lowers the score.
Facilities are adequate with a well-stocked kitchen, central heating, and Wi-Fi. Some guests noted issues with the shower drainage and outdated kitchen equipment. The presence of a log burner and entertainment options like board games are positives.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, this category cannot be scored, and guests should not expect additional amenities beyond what is described in the reviews.

We loved our stay. Quiet location. Cottage very comfortable, kitchen appliances all to hand, TV, dvd rado plus cd player plus some board games. Bedrooms on ground floor with shared shower etc. Living space on first floor with clear view (at times 😆 if not covered in clouds ) of Skiddaw, second toilet and outdoor space to sit weather permitting. Comfortably warm central heating easily adjustable - plus log burner. Good wi-fi. We walked from cottage thro Whinlatter Forest and low fell walk at Threkeld. Lots of walks easy to access with short drive. Beds are firm. Only criticism is bedroom off bathroom smelt fusty. Reported to agent who said would look into. Overall comfy cottage and excellent location. We're likely to make a return visit

A Hidden GemWe've stayed here a few times and love it.The cottage has a rustic charm - It's well used, but clean and has a very comfortable lounge upstairs with magnificent views. Kitchen is small but well stocked and an upstairs cloakroom toilet adjacent then out to a lovely decked seating area to admire the views from.Downstairs are the two double bedrooms one of which has an en-suite family bathroom and shower. The only criticism is the beds, the front bedroom has a mattress that dips and the back bedroom mattress is a liitle on the hard side.Other than we love it and would stay here time and time again.
