Snaptrip says

Cockley Beck Cottage is highly praised for its stunning, peaceful location, ideal for walking and unwinding. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and the warm welcome from the host. The log burner and scenic views are recurrent highlights, with many planning return visits.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews consistently mention the cottage being clean and tidy upon arrival, indicating high standards of cleanliness that contribute to the overall positive experience of the guests.

The location is celebrated for its tranquillity and beauty, perfect for walkers and those seeking solitude. However, its remoteness and challenging access may not suit everyone, which is why the score is not perfect.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, especially with the log burner. However, a few comments about the bed's comfort and shower pressure suggest there is room for improvement in this category.

The cottage is well-equipped for a comfortable stay, with amenities like a wood burner, washing machine, and dishwasher. Some guests noted issues with the shower and bed, indicating that while facilities are generally good, maintenance could be enhanced.

While guests mention receiving fresh eggs and the host's willingness to assist, including looking after dogs, there is not enough consistent information about gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately score this category.

About this property

Broughton-in-Furness 12 miles. A cosy semi-detached cottage, attached to the owners’ farmhouse, in an isolated setting on a working livestock farm in Cockley Beck in the stunning Duddon Valley. This perfect romantic cottage is situated in a truly away-from-it-all location, where nature really does meet you at the door; the Hardknott Pass is just outside the cottage, as is the River Duddon as it tumbles its way down the valley towards Seathwaite, in the beautiful Lake District National Park. Inside this cosy cottage is an open plan living area with a woodburning stove and superb views out to the surrounding fields and fells, together with a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a double bedroom. Outside there is an enclosed garden and patio, surrounded in every direction by beautiful scenery. This really is a cottage where the air is pure and refreshing, the scenery breathtaking and the welcome warm. Being in the shadows of Harter Fell, Crinkle Craggs and the Scafell massif, this wonderful location is perfect for the serious walker and mountaineer. The tiny hamlet of Seathwaite is 4 miles down the valley where there is a lovely country inn serving delicious food, and the Hardknott Pass leads you over into Eskdale and Wasdale. Whenever you visit this special location you will be amazed at the abundance of wildlife and the starry night skies, so pack everything you need for your stay, as once you arrive at this beautifully rural, remote cottage you will not wish to leave!

Clean and comfortable accomodation and very cosy with the log burner. Would definitely return in the future.

The perfect location for exploring the Lake District and the cottage had everything I needed for my stay. Bed was super comfy and the cottage was lovely and warm, even in the bad weather! Would recommend to anyone looking for a break.

Perfect small cottage for getting away from it all and walking from the door. Owners next door are kind and helpful but never interfere. Cosy, even in wet weather, with a lovely view over Harter Fell during mealtimes at the table. All rooms clean and bed soft. Each day accompanied by birdsong and the sound of the river.
