You are ideally situated to explore the north Essex countryside which is filled with walks, nature and fabulous pubs. Close by you can visit the pretty and historic villages of Long Melford, Lavenham, and Finchingfield, ‘the most photographed village in England’. Constable country is just around the corner, as is the market town of Sudbury. It is 1¾ miles to Chappel and Wakes Colne railway station, which connects to Marks Tey allowing you to get into London in under one hour. Colchester Castle is 8½ miles and Earls Colne a 15-minute walk away. Beach 13 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ¾ mile.

We had a lovely stay at Toad Hall cottage, pleasant local walks, a lovely cottage, and saw some amazing wildlife from the comfort of the hot tub!

The place was beautiful, evenings were stunning and silent with great views, place was lovely and clean too

The owner Glen was lovely, he gave us lots of information on what was in the area and was really responsive when we needed something. The hot tub was a great addition and the views were great, very peaceful and quiet. The place could have been cleaned a little better, but I think this is more previous guests - cutlery and cups needed a wash before we used them. We loved staying and we had a great time, thank you so much for letting us stay!
