Guests say

The Granary in Oakham is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its peaceful semi-rural setting, characterful and spacious accommodation, and proximity to local attractions. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the lovely village location, and the comfort of the property, including a comfy bed. While some guests noted a lack of kitchen equipment and the absence of blinds, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests consistently describe the property as clean and well-presented, with one specifically noting it as 'spotlessly clean'. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is frequently highlighted as ideal, with its quiet setting, easy access to nearby towns, and lovely walking areas. The proximity to a local pub and Rutland Water adds to the appeal.

The property is commended for its comfort, including a 'lovely comfy bed' and a peaceful environment conducive to relaxation. However, the lack of blinds leading to a 'goldfish bowl' effect slightly impacts the comfort score.

While the property is appreciated for its layout and modernisation, some guests felt the kitchen was not as well-equipped as it could be for cooking meals. The mention of ample parking and a well-equipped property in other respects supports a positive but not perfect score.

The hosts' responsiveness to issues and the provision of essentials are seen as thoughtful gestures. A compensatory bottle of wine for an inconvenience was well-received, although it is noted that such gestures are a bonus and not a guaranteed amenity.

This was our third visit and it won't be our last. The semi-rural location is ideal for us – quiet (except for a noisy party in the hosts' garden one evening, but that could happen anywhere), excellent parking, an easy drive to Uppingham, Oakham etc. and with lovely walking nearby. The accommodation is characterful, beautifully proportioned, well laid out, and very well equipped. Accessibility could be an issue for some, with quite high steps both into and within the property. There was an invasion of wasps while we were there this time but, again, this could happen anywhere and the hosts could not have been more prompt and assiduous in helping us to deal with it. The compensatory bottle of wine was welcome - thank you. All in all, another most enjoyable visit to this beautiful part of the world.

Fabulous barn conversation set in a quaint village 2 miles from Rutland Water. Perfect setting, well equipped very peaceful you can actually hear the birds singing and the stars shining, great for total relaxation. Very private, essentials left which was a nice touch. Easy 5 minute walk to the pub, which serves good food. Would recommend.
