About this property

Settled amongst glorious countryside in the charming village of Heage, Derbyshire, and based on a working farm, rests this beautiful barn conversion, Bear Cottage. Just paces away from amenities to assist with your self-catered stay and within easy reach of wonderful attractions, this delightful abode is the idyllic base for a couple seeking a romantic escape. Be greeted by off-road parking spaces to leave your vehicle before admiring the splendour of nature before you, with views reaching Crich and beyond. Step inside to unveil the rustic charm of your home-from-home, with great beamed ceilings and traditional barn timber blended with contemporary décor. In the heart of the space lies a large corner sofa, ideal for snuggling up in front of the Smart TV, with the underfloor heating to keep your feet toasty. Rustle up tasty dishes in the matte charcoal kitchen, home to fantastic facilities, including an electric oven and induction hob, as well as a washing machine and dishwasher to keep the space neat and tidy! When dinner is served, join your other half in the separate dining room, flooded in natural light from the patio doors and enjoy a home-cooked meal together. On warmer days, throw open the patio doors for an alfresco affair, with the option to cook up a feast on the barbecue and you can dine on the outdoor furniture to bask in the sun. As the sky grows dark, retreat inside to the warmth of air source heat pumps keeping the place toasty and enjoy a refreshing rinse in the tastefully designed shower room. When sleep calls, a king-size bed awaits, with hanging space for your holiday attire and a Smart TV for a movie night beneath the covers. In the morning, make use of the well-equipped kitchen to conjure a home-cooked breakfast and enjoy a steaming cup of coffee as you ponder the adventures of the day. Bear Cottage is perched in an excellent position for exploring exciting attractions; visit the stunning Carsington Water for a romantic stroll around the reservoir, tour the remains of Riber Castle for a taste of history and there is Cromford Mills for a guided tour around the cotton mill. Embark on an adventure to the pretty town of Matlock, here you can soak in spectacular sights of Derbyshire from the Heights of Abraham, admire a variety of marine life at the aquarium and relax at the Victorian Spa. Outdoor lovers may wish to take a short journey to the glorious Peak District National Park to explore the dramatic landscape, either on foot or bike, whilst absorbing the wonderful wildlife within the area. For memories you will cherish with your loved one, secure a stay at Bear Cottage.

The lovely village of Heage, Derbyshire, is tucked between the towns of Ripley and Belper. Heage and Nether Heage are the two halves of this dispersed village, both of which include rustic homes and winding pathways but none of which has a centre. The word 'Heage' is Anglo-Saxon and means majestic or high, which is appropriate given the steep setting and lush vegetation. The region has a long history of farming, as seen by its historic farmhouses and operating farms.
