    About this property

Jasmine Cottage is the perfect destination for guests wanting to really explore the beauty of County Durham, Northumberland and the north east.
Situated in the owner’s grounds, yet quietly nestled away, this semi-detached bungalow is 4 miles from the popular village of Lanchester and just 11 miles away from the city of Durham. The perfect spot for couples wanting to enjoy a quiet romantic break, the village of Lanchester offers a super selection of places to eat, including three local pubs, an Italian restaurant and fish and chip shop. The very well regarded Knitsley Farm Shop is also only a little over 2 miles away and has a fabulous selection of local food and drink, and is definitely worth the trip.
All on one level, with views across the fields, guests will find Jasmine Cottage warm and welcoming. The open plan living, kitchen and dining area is light and spacious, and has windows looking out over the horses in the field opposite. The kitchen is well-equipped and the living area is comfortable and well furnished. Perfect for friends and family who like to holiday together, Jasmine Cottage boasts a kingsize bedroom and an en-suite shower room, as well a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Very well presented throughout, with gardens to the front and a sitting out area on the patio, Jasmine Cottage is the perfect destination at any time of year.
Ideal for guests who enjoy walking and cycling, Jasmine Cottage is surrounded by nearly 14 acres of the owner’s grounds which stretch out over open countryside and fields. There are numerous established public footpaths, walks and cycle paths close by, and the nearest cycle path is the C2C. The beautiful hills and valleys of Teesdale and Weardale are both between 20 and 30 minutes’ drive away, and walkers will find themselves surrounded by some of the most scenic countryside that County Durham has to offer. Hadrian’s Wall can be reached within an hour’s drive too and offers a more historic trail for walkers to take. The Derwent Valley Railway Path leads east towards the outskirts of Durham and is very popular with cyclists, whilst the Waskerley Way leads west and on into the vast open spaces of Weardale. Jasmine Cottage has a lockable bike store, so cycling enthusiasts will be able to bring their bikes and explore to their hearts content.
The perfect base for guests wanting to enjoy a spot of history and culture, the cathedral city of Durham offers plenty of attractions to enjoy at all times of year. The Lumiere Festival held in November every other year is a must see, as well as the yearly miners gala, jazz festival, poetry festival and book week. Also ideal for parents wanting to visit children, family members or friends who are studying at Durham University or celebrating graduation, the property is just 25 minutes away from all of the university campuses and halls.
To the north of Jasmine Cottage, guests will be able to visit the Beamish Living Museum, 7 miles, Gateshead and the Metro Centre, 12 miles, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 14 miles, the popular market town of Corbridge with its riverside walks, 15 miles, and Hexham and its abbey, 22 miles. Perfect for guests wanting to enjoy the Kynren Spectacular that takes place from July-September each year, the host town of Bishop Auckland is only 15 miles away. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

"A last minute booking but seamlessley organised by the owners who were very welcoming and helpful. There is everything you need in the cottage and the layout is particularly good with bedrooms and ensuites at either side and a communal kitchen and lounge area in the middle. Really comfortable and in a beautiful location too."

"We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. There are lovely views and if you like animals the family pets are extremely friendly. You are right out in the countryside. There is everything you need for a week away and Consett nearby has two large supermarkets. It is a very good base for exploring the North East and the area around Durham and Hadrian's Wall in particular"
