This attractive cottage on the Anvil Point Lighthouse site has a fully fitted kitchen, dining room, sitting room, two single and two double bedrooms (one en-suite) and bathroom.
In association with Trinity House, we are proud to present Veronica Cottage at Anvil Point Lighthouse.
Veronica Cottage sleeps six guests and is one of two holiday cottages at the lighthouse, situated within the grounds of Durleston Country Park, approximately two miles up the hill from Swanage town centre, which offers a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and other facilities. As you turn off the main road and begin your "off the beaten track" path to your cosy accommodation, you'll feel like you've just stepped off the treadmill of your busy life; and if you arrive after dark, there's nothing like the welcome of a lighthouse beam to greet you!
Perfect year round; from enjoying summer sun on the nearby beaches, to snuggling up to witness amazing storms in the colder months; indeed many of our guests feel a little cheated if the weather has been too calm! If you're looking for a holiday with a difference; a complete break from the metropolis; a breath of fresh air and countless coastal walking opportunities, then look no further.
Also on this site is Rowena Cottage, sleeping five guests.
Additional Information:
Please be aware that the water in this cottage is provided by a borehole and is therefore not suitable for drinking either hot or cold. Bottled water will be provided.
There is no fog horn at this site.
A travel cot and highchair are available on request.
Very limited mobile signal. A telephone with honesty box is provided.
Given the remote locations of our cottages the Wi-Fi speed and availability cannot be guaranteed at this site The service offered is for light browsing and occasional use, services such as streaming and gaming may not be possible owing to the speeds obtainable.
Sorry, no pets, next door cottage Rowena Cottage accepts two dogs.
The Lighthouse grounds are walled however please ensure that children are supervised at all times.
Guests are reminded they are renting a heritage building, therefore certain features such as steps, stairs and floor levels may not comply with that of a modern building. As such, we would advise guests to acquaint themselves with the premises on arrival and exercise caution accordingly.
Sorry, no barbecues, fireworks, drones or remote controlled flying equipment are permitted.
Access roads to the lighthouse site are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

We have always loved coming here and have been doing so for over 15 years the place is immaculate and you can see the property is well looked after with new carpets throughout and new flooring in the dining room. The only slight negative is the settees are very low and uncomfortable and one of the big chairs have been removed and replaced with a dining chair but this won’t stop us returning again and again

Location perfect. Exterior paintwork needs freshening up. Gate in a poor way, difficult to open and close properly - combination lock and fixing is a bit heath robinson. Garden grass needed a trim for garden games to be played. Garden table breaking up around surface re-inforcement and rusting. Interior clean and tidy, beds freshly made up. Hot water and heating all good. Bathrooms clean and tidy. Oven not as clean as it should have been. Roof leak damage to ceiling visible in dining room. Windows could do with a clean to enjoy the view. Ran out of drinking water on 4th day (not enough left for 6 adults catering mostly in the cottage); left message for replenishment which did not occur until the cleaner arrived on Friday. Kitchen electrical equipment instructions not in cottage reference book; found after some searching in the cutlery drawers... Observation: The light operation was found to be rather underwhelming. This probably follows an 'upgrade' by Trinity house to LED technology. We preferred the rotating lenses which historically worked very well and which were able to be maintained to a very high standard. However, we spotted the light from Portland Bill which seemed to be technically sufficient but without the 'sweep'. Also, removal of the redundant fog signal tower would enhance the view! Many thanks

We had a wonderful time at Veronica Cottage, the location was stunningly beautiful. The walking directly from the cottage was so good and the views all around, including the country park picture perfect… The reason we left a star off is because we were disappointed with the kitchen area, needs a good deep clean.
