About this property

At the end of a private drive on a smallholding in a hidden Dartmoor valley is The Linhay. This very comfortable apartment has direct access to the moor and great views towards Brentor church and Dartmoor's highest tors. Inside is bright, modern and easy. Fifteen steps lead to the entrance via big French windows to the open-plan living area where you can sit in front of the wood burner, on a comfortable sofa and admire the views of the moor and valley. The very pretty double bedroom has a king-size bed adjoins a lavish bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower. You're welcome to wander the surrounding 20 acres of field, woodland and lakes, and there's a small enclosed patio garden with furniture for your own private use. The Linhay is a really great base within easy reach of the most dramatic Dartmoor tors. 1½ miles from Lydford, with its spectacular gorge and 3 miles from Brentor, the scenery here is breathtaking. For the sporty among you, you can walk or cycle along the Granite Way, or Roadford Lake offers an array of water sports. For a more relaxed turn of pace the beaches of south Devon are within a 30 minute drive.

Nestling among mature woodland on the western slopes of Dartmoor, the historic village of Lydford is a jewel in this area of outstanding scenic beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the village edge, while to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest on its tumbling course northwards.

Plus an absolutely lovely range of birds that were feeding in the garden. Cottage was always warm and cosy and is a well designed and furnished. Lovely surprise to have scones, cream and jam on arrival. We would happily stay again.

We were welcomed with a Christmas tree and lights, which was lovely for our trip in December. The accommodation was clean and provided us with all essentials. Log burner was a treat for the cold evenings. It was out 10 year wedding anniversary and it was made special with the stay at linhay. We will certainly be back.
