Snaptrip says

Guests consistently praise Rock View Shepherd's Hut for its cleanliness, peaceful and secluded woodland setting, and the added luxury of a hot tub. The hut's comfort, including a cosy bed and modern facilities, is frequently highlighted. Visitors appreciate the thoughtful touches by hosts Nick and Karen, who are commended for their helpfulness and warm welcome.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers repeatedly mention the outstanding cleanliness of the hut, describing it as 'spotless' and 'immaculate', indicating a very high standard of hygiene and upkeep.

The secluded and quiet woodland location is highly valued by guests, with many appreciating the proximity to nature and local attractions like Dartmoor. The peaceful environment contributes to a relaxing experience.

The hut is frequently described as cosy and comfortable, with a particularly comfortable bed noted by several guests. However, one mention of an uncomfortable bed and insufficient blinds suggests there is a slight room for improvement.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the hot tub, fire pit, and modern amenities. The maintenance of these facilities is also commended. A single mention of a desire for a mirror near a plug for convenience indicates most needs are met.

Many guests express gratitude for the thoughtful gestures, such as welcome cards and chilled Prosecco. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

About three miles from the village of Gunnislake, surrounded by serene woodland, is Rock View Shepherd's Hut. This beautiful retreat is set within broad-leafed woodland, close to Wheal Josiah, the now abandoned, but former richest copper mine in Europe. Wander through this lovely land towards the hut and step up into the romantic studio accommodation. On your left sits a lovely dining area, which can be transformed into a cosy double bed come night-time. Perfect for two adults. With no TV or WiFi, this really is a relaxing retreat for you and your other half to get away from it all. A compact yet nicely appointed kitchen also comes nearby, while the layout benefits charmingly from a woodburning stove and a flutter of delightful copper features indicating the copper mine grounds that the property rests on. Completing this unique bolthole is a fresh white shower room. Outside is a private woodland garden with a table, chairs and a fire pit - an idyllic spot to unwind. Also for your enjoyment a private wood-fired hot tub for two.

Beyond the garden are acres of woodland and the Tamar Trails activity centre for walking and cycling, which is around a 20-minute walk away. Nearby are the historic market town of Tavistock, the National Trust's Cotehele House, Buckland Abbey and Morwellham Quay, the location of the BBC's Edwardian Farm. Further afield, Plymouth has shops, theatres, the National Marine Aquarium and historic Barbican. Rock View Shepherd’s Hut is a peaceful and picturesque retreat where you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish.

A delightful award-winning market town on the River Tavy, nestling in the South West slopes of Dartmoor. Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool.

Facilities great. However the bed is really uncomfortable, duvet was short for my husband and the pillows were past their best. At night we were disturbed as the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors flashed all the time and we had light coming in from the lights under the hut and early morning sun due to blinds not meeting at the doors. In the summer this must be a real problem. Could do with a mirror near plugs for hair drying. The setting of the hut is lovely and the hot tub is a nice touch. Great part of Devon

It was the perfect romantic getaway; the setting was beautiful - secluded, quiet and surrounded by nature. It was a truly amazing escape from our concrete jungle and we are already looking for our next shepherd’s hut trip (a hot tub is now a non-negotiable). Our only regret is that we didn’t stay for longer! When we are back in the area, we will absolutely be back :)

Idyllic and secluded at the back of owners property. Everything needed was provided. Would definitely stay again.
