Take a boat trip across to Kingswear and travel even further towards Brixham for Berry Head Nature Reserve, Brixham Harbour and a larger choice of amenities. Discover the 14th century Dartmouth Castle which overlooks the estuary and houses a 15th century tower, showcasing its rich history. The Dartmouth Steam Railway spans across 6.7 miles and gives you the chance to discover a wealth of open countryside in the South Devon AONB district. Dartmouth itself provides a choice of independent shops and supermarkets, as well as some traditional pubs and restaurants for some fine dining. I found it to be quiet and very relaxing. There is easy access to the coast and the beaches of Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands. Dartmouth is close to hand as well with river trips and steam train rides to Paignton. Lyn was very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It is the perfect place for two or one to get away from it all, and I am looking forward to the day I return. Highly recommended.
