About this property

The Old Wash House, winner of the 2019 Visit England ROSE Award, is a delightfully presented and recently refurbished Grade II listed property in historic Dartmouth. Retaining many original character features, including period fireplaces and the remains of the original wash house within its enclosed courtyard, this is a fascinating holiday home in a truly beautiful location.

The property is in the Ford area of Dartmouth, just off Victoria Road and a 5 minute level walk into the town and its array of boutiques, galleries, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as the picturesque River Dart. Blackpool Sands beach is just a 5 - 10 minute drive away whilst Woodlands Theme Park is just three miles outside of Dartmouth, making this an ideal retreat for families looking to explore the Start Bay coastline and local attractions.

The property is finished to a very high standard and has off-road parking for one car. The sitting room is comfortably furnished with a log burner effect gas fire, whilst the kitchen/dining area is beautifully equipped with built in appliances. There is also a fabulous ‘dog house’, a designated home for your dog to enjoy, plus a utility cupboard and dining area. With three bedrooms (two doubles - one en suite - on the first floor, and one single in the attic), plus a family bathroom, it is very well equipped for a family. Outside the property is a sunny paved terrace within the enclosed, walled courtyard, with seating. There is also off-road parking for one car.

Whether you are travelling with family or friends, this fabulous holiday home is perfect for up to five people and two dogs, looking for well-located Dartmouth accommodation.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

It was very well equipped and we loved the digital showers and LED lights. The dogs loved the built in dog house and the huge tin of dog treats! Would certainly recommend!

The facilities were exceptional and the welcome with all the little extras gratefully received. The information folders were very useful and the hosts had obviously thought carefully about their customers needs. Many thanks for providing a superb place to stay and we would recommend it to all.

The property had everything to make the week comfortable and parking was not a problem.
