This comfortable retreat is perfect for a family of four or for two couples seeking to explore the delights of the Derwent Valley Mills and venture further to the Peak District where you will find a vast array of attractions and amenities to suit all ages and tastes. You will enter the property via the porch, where you can kick off your walking boots before relaxing into your evening within the elegantly-styled property. The sitting room is a bright and airy space for you and your loved ones to unwind in the evening, with a TV, a large collection of DVDs or games to choose from and a selection of books to enjoy as you relax on the comfy sofa. Beyond here is the well-equipped kitchen, where the designated chef of the group will be delighted by all the quality appliances that have been fitted to ensure that you can cater for yourselves during a week-long break. At the end of the kitchen there is a delightful sunny breakfast room which also doubles as a bedroom for your dog should you choose to bring one. After cooking up a storm in the kitchen, head into the dining room where you and your loved ones can gather to plan the days ahead whilst you tuck into a delicious home-cooked meal. The dining room is also a second sitting room with more comfy chairs and a second sofa and a cosy log burner to curl up in front of. As the evening draws to a close, venture up the staircase to find two refreshingly decorated bedrooms, comprising a king-size double bedroom and a twin bedroom with zip-lock beds that can be joined to make a super king sized bed on request, each boasting quality linens, and ample space to house your personal belongings.

If you are visiting during the summer months, spend some time in the pretty, enclosed, sunny rear garden where you can enjoy a spot of alfresco dining whilst your canine companions relax on the lawn area.

If you don’t feel like cooking every evening, venture into the centre of Belper where you will find a superb selection of amenities including a host of pubs, including several quirky micro pubs, and restaurants offering a wide range of quality, locally-produced food. During the day you will be spoilt for choice with a fabulous range of independent shops to browse and coffee shops /cafes. Don't forget to book seats at the independent Ritz Cinema , just a ten minute walk from the house, and enjoy the luxury of it's velvet-clad seating one evening. Attractions within the surrounding area include Strutt's North Mill Museum where you can brush up the local history of the town and learn about Belper's claim to fame as the 'birthplace of the Industrial Revolution' or enjoy a walk in the stunning victorian River Gardens. Further afield attractions include the magnificent Kedleston Hall, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall and the Peak District towns of Matlock, Wirksworth and Bakewell where you will find further amenities. Shaw House is also ideally situated for a day out at Alton Towers which is approximately 20 miles away. Shaw House is a splendid retreat for exploring this town and countryside location with your loved ones. There are fantastic transport links on your doorstep. If you have had enough of driving there are buses and trains to most of the destinations mentioned above or if you fancy some city life, a trip to the theatre or a concert , both Nottingham and Derby are easily accessed by car or public transport.

Belper is a bustling town resting within the Derwent Valley, just 11 miles away from Ashbourne. Within the town you will find attractions including the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens, as well as a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. Within the surrounding area you will find the Peak District town of Matlock where you will find a larger selection of amenities and attractions including a cable car ride to enjoy the views from Heights of Abraham.
