Warwick on Eden, as the names suggests, sits on the banks of the River Eden on the A69, 5 miles east of the historic city of Carlisle. The village offers a traditional inn serving an excellent choice of meals and local ales. The area is steeped in history with Carlisle Castle, where Mary Queen of the Scots was once imprisoned, Hadrian’s Wall along with the Roman Fort of Vindolanda and Lanercost Priory with tea room, all being a short drive. The border city of Carlisle offers entertainment for the whole family from kids soft play to a night out at the theatre for the adults, there is a wealth of restaurants and bars to relax after a days exploring or shopping at the Lanes shopping centre. Ideally based to explore the northern Lakes, with Lake Ullswater being just over half an hours drive, the Scottish Borders are 9 miles north and the Solway Coast is less than 40 minutes away.
