About this property

Buttercup cottage lies right in the heart of Coln St Aldwyns; arguably one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds - if not the country.

Peacefully situated just off, but within easy reach of, the main tourist trails, in all directions, it’s idyllic position offers an ideal starting point from which to explore all that the beautiful Cotswolds have to offer from glorious riverside and woodland walks, through a network of small quaint villages (Bibury, Eastleach) to trout farms and and both fine-dining and rustic country pubs.

Coln St Aldwyns lies equidistant from the Roman town of Cirencester, the medieval market town of Burford and the inland port of Lechlade upon Thames and nearby family attractions include the Cotswold Water Parks, the Cotswolds Wildlife Park, the Crocodile Farm, Soho farmhouse, Thyme at nearby Southrop and Daylesford farm.

Kelmscott Manor, the home of William Morris, the founder of the Art & Crafts movement, the Cotswolds Woolen Mill at Filkins and Buscott Manor are all just a short drive away and well worth a visit.

Buttercup Cottage is discreetly tucked away from the main thoroughfare of the village. It is an imposing 3-story building constructed of honey-coloured Cotswold stone under a slate tiled roof and was recently re-furbished to a high standard. It provides light, spacious and generous accommodation, with far-reaching, uninterrupted views, from every bedroom, across a sweeping meadow to the river Coln and the undulating unspoiled countryside beyond.

The cottage is approached by a large gravel driveway with parking for up to 3 cars, and a small gate leads into a private garden, complete with small lawn, a garden bench and a generous stone patio area with a large outdoor table, a parasol, chairs (seats 6) and a barbecue, for outside entertaining.

Set within the Cotswolds aonb and bordered by the River Coln, while being surrounded by refreshing green countryside, Coln St Aldwyns is a picturesque village and fine touring base for visitors wanting to discover the Cotswolds. You will find a Grade II* listed church, a handy shop and a highly-rated gastro pub, while the chocolate-box village of Bibury is just a couple of miles away, known for its rows of quaint stone cottages and surrounding greenery. Slightly further afield is the striking market town of Cirencester, laced with attractive buildings and varying attractions.
