What our customers say about their holidays

    • Diane - Verified booking

Lovely owners who welcome feedback to improve their cottage which is warm clean well equipped and very dog friendly.

We had the need for a few changes due to our circumstances. We were with elderly parents who not disabled but had mobility issues. The light in one of the bedrooms upstairs had a touch light which is easier than looking for a switch in the night but doesn't match the other beautiful lighting in the garden room so just borrowed it and put back.Looses gravel from house through disabled entrance was a struggle for walker but not for a wheelchair so we just swept it away abit.Lovely walk in shower but we had to buy a chair but lots of grab rails and a good non slip mat which is rough for feet cleaning.Pictures show twin downs stairs double and twin upstairs, this has now changed to double downstairs and 2 twins upstairs. Pictures also show a small wall mounted tv.,This has been upgraded to a freestanding larger TV with Netflix and good channels.Lots of lovely sofas and chairs and does not have a list of dos and don'tsso you feel welcome not tolerated,.Seating area by bbq is not wheelchair accessible but the rest is.Large bbq a fire pit and lots of garden furniture to mix and match to your needs. Only draw back was stairs which when lit puts landing light on so might disturb other guests if not all going to bed same time and have suggested stick on lights going up which are sensored.3 entrances so if you have to access garden at night there is a fire exit direct down well lit stone stairs so does not take you through kitchen to courtyard or garden room which opens up completely with folding doors, beautiful on a warm day which unfortunately we didn't have to many of.Thank you .

We had a really lovely stay thank you.

The cottage is perfect for 6 with plenty of room. Spacious bedrooms and the beds/linen were very comfy. Downstairs being open plan was a brilliant social area ... and lovely with the log burner. It was perfect for our get together and would definitely recommend. Just wanted to mention a couple of bits though .... 1)We had a very bad smell in the downstairs bedroom ... we found a dead bird in there (not sure how long it had been there but it was smelling very bad so might have been overlooked when last cleaned that it was there). 2)One of us went out the top exit area to see where we would need to go in the event of a fire. It is very very slippy and she fell down and hurt her self quite badly. You need to put something down on this area to ensure it is safe to walk on .... it could have been a lot worse. 3)Despite the directions it is pretty hard to find! You cannot see the house ... could you not put a stone outside with solar lights to have at least a light there and also a sign because at night it is even more difficult to find .. we were having to go out and shine our mobile torch lights to direct them to the gate. The gate (which is open so you can't see anyway) only says FMB (or FMH ... can't remember the initials you have put) .. but i would recommend putting the whole of the name of the house on the sign.

We chose this property due its location and disabled facilities.

My mum needed a down stairs bedroom/bathroom. We were disappointed that the disabled access is a drop off point down a rough path to the front of the barn. We would not have been able to get a wheelchair down the path as it was too narrow On arrival we collected our keys from the key safe and discovered they only opened the side door into the lounge, we had to push the coffee table out of the way to get in. Not the easiest of access for a disabled person. We later found the key to the kitchen / main door on a shelf.. The listing does not explain that you can’t park outside the front of the property. It was only at the latter stages we were advised drop off only outside and then park through a gate in the back garden, as this was on a grassed slope it was not possible for my mum to walk or be wheelchaired down to the property. We were left a hand written note to advise the boiler wasn’t working properly and given some vague instructions on what to do with it to top up the water, not something I’d expect to do on holiday! Glad my husband knew what to do! The note advised they would look at it after the bank holiday weekend, but nobody came.

The cottage was everything we wanted.

The downstairs disabled bedroom with walk in en suite was perfect for my mom (who can’t do steps and uses a wheelchair). The kitchen was super homely and well equipped. The upstairs bedrooms worked well for my sister and me, with a shared bathroom. The pretty gardens surround the property and there is always somewhere sunny to sit, even though the house is in a dip and north facing at the rear. Several sets of tables and chairs and even a beanbag lounger provided. The photos and description were accurate. Ideal for families or couples and for dogs. There is a bit of road noise but that was flagged and to be expected given how close it is to the A417. There is a very useful garage with Co-op shop a few yards walk from the cottage. The owner left is a welcome pack of lemon drizzle cake, water, juice, dog treats and flowers which was nice. Basic things like washing up liquid, cleaner, clothes, dishwasher tabs and clothes tabs also provided as are shower and hand held and shampoo. We were happy to do the rubbish recycling. Overall a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Post Office with the whole family.

It was perfect for 7 adults and a child, and a short walk from Hatherop where our close family live. Our thanks to the owners for allowing us to rent their lovely home. All the rooms were spacious, including the well equipped kitchen, and the lovely garden was the perfect size for eating outdoors and relaxing. The small Coln Stores, ideally located across the road, stocked everything we needed, and the staff were really friendly. The management company of the property was very helpful and always responded immediately to our questions. We have suggested a few improvements to the house: better WiFi coverage (there is none in the large kitchen where we spent a lot of time), modification to the family bathroom (inability to shower standing up without being in full view of people in the neighbouring garden ... as we discovered!), and the fridge size (too small for 8 people for 1 week). If these are resolved, we will certainly book again.
