About this property

Maugersbury Manor is an enchanting Grade II listed property which sleeps 12 people in six bedrooms, with five spacious bathrooms. This fabulous property dates back to the early 17th century and has been recently renovated to create a stylish, contemporary home with a variety of wonderful character features including exposed beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls, two fireplaces with wood burning stoves, ornamental fireplaces, stone mullion windows and original wood flooring.

These period touches are complemented by modern facilities and elegant design features including wireless internet access, a Smart TV, underfloor heating in some rooms, marble flooring and a stunning dining area which sits beneath a beautiful glass roof lantern. This breathtaking country house has a superb garden with rural views and plenty of off-street parking on its private driveway.

Maugersbury Manor is tucked away in the peaceful rural village of Maugersbury, an idyllic hamlet located almost 200ft above the valley bottom below, offering glorious country views and scenic walks on its doorstep. Just half a mile from Maugersbury is the popular market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, once a small settlement within the lands of the Manor and now home to a number of independent shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants. This much loved town has preserved many of its notable historic features including the bustling market square with its medieval stone cross and old town stocks, and the ‘tures’, narrow alleyways which were once used to channel the many sheep to market.

Maugersbury is well-placed for exploring the many picturesque towns and villages of the North Cotswolds such as Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway, all benefitting from well-regarded pubs and restaurants. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford and Blenheim Palace are also within easy reach for day trips.Maugersbury Manor sits within extensive grounds comprising a beautifully maintained lawn and an immaculate patio area with an outdoor table with seating for six. Attractive flower beds dotted between the paving stones add colour, and adjacent to the seating area is a shallow unfenced pond (young children should be supervised at all times). A paved path passes behind the conservatory to a charming herb garden which guests are welcome to use to enhance home cooked meals. The enclosed garden offers marvellous rural views and is bathed in sunlight during the warmer months. Mature trees at the rear create welcome shade when needed and a garden bench, charcoal fire pit and small charcoal barbecue are provided, allowing guests to make the most of the fair weather.

Ample parking is available on the gravel driveway at the front of the property.

Cheltenham is a town in Gloucestershire and lies beneath Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds and above the vale of the River Severn. It is known as 'The Western Gateway to the Cotswolds'. This edge-of-the Cotswolds spa town is hard to beat for refined elegance and Regency terraces, annual festivals, Ladies' College and racecourse. Also fortnightly farmers markets, classy shops and restaurants all surrounded by glorious countryside. The town is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, 4 days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at Cheltenham Racecourse. It's also known for Regency buildings, including the Pittville Pump Room, a remnant of Cheltenham’s past as a spa town. There's fine art at The Wilson museum, and the Victorian Everyman Theatre has an ornate auditorium.
