About this property

Set in the harmonious village of Lower Swell lies this lovely detached house, Elm Bank, the perfect choice for families or groups wanting a relaxing break in the Cotswolds.

You are greeted to the property with a spacious driveway, and some extra roadside parking where for larger vehicles, before you step through the front door into your abode for the next few days. Opening up into the airy entrance hall, kick off your boots and enter into the well laid out house. Overlooking the front garden and fields beyond, the dual aspect sitting room with stone fireplace and open fire creates a warming welcome into the home. This is the perfect room to chill out with your loved ones.

An additional sitting room known as the morning room, lies at the front of the house, and is a bright and airy room containing a handy double sofa bed, available for additional guests on request.

Brush up on your culinary skills in the well-equipped kitchen which houses all the contemporary amenities you will need during your stay and a table fit for eight guests; the perfect space for planning your trip itinerary with your loved ones. Decorated with eye-catching wallpaper, the dining room offers searing for ten guests and has lovely French doors leading out into the large and well-maintained garden. The patio area is bordered by crockery and flowers and houses a charcoal barbecue to take advantage of in the summer months and a quaint bench to enjoy some personal time. Two steps lead up to the generous lawn area where you can enjoy your meals al fresco at the tables which seat 12 guests. For some peace and quiet, make your way to the secluded seating area in the far corner and catch some rays.

Moving back into the property and finishing off the ground floor lies a wet room, complete with shower, basin and WC, perfect for washing down of an evening and meaning no more queues!

When your eyes draw heavy, make your way up the stairs to the first floor where you have a choice of five beautifully presented bedrooms. To your right you will find the dual aspect master bedroom which has a generous king-size bed and benefits from an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom enjoys views of the fields to the front of the property and also benefits from an en-suite shower room. Ideal for a family, the third bedroom offers a double bed and a single day bed which is available on request. The fourth is a light room and contains a double bed, and the fifth a well-presented single room.

As there are more than enough bath and shower rooms to go around, the main bathroom is sure to be available in the mornings so why not take advantage of that and run yourself a warm and relaxing bath to start your day off on the right foot.

Elm Bank is well-placed for visiting the many beautiful Cotswold towns surrounding, one being the busy market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, where you will find plenty of amenities just a short walk from your door step, including tea rooms, individual shops, pubs, restaurants and art galleries. If you want to discover the history of Stow, take a walk around the market square, where you will find the town stock at one end which dates back to the 15th Century and is shaded by an old Elm Tree and at the opposite end, you will find the ancient Market Cross, originally erected as a symbolic reminder to traders of the times to deal honestly and fairly. St Edward’s Parish Church is known for its enchanting looking tree surrounding the doorway and it is here you will find a memorial of those who fought in the last Civil War.

Further afield you will find Bourton-on-the-Water which is a village straddling the River Windrush, it’s known for its low bridges and traditional stone houses. Make a visit to Birdland which is home to over 500 species of birds including parrots, owls and king penguins, plus life-size model dinosaurs, or discover a miniature replica of the Cotswold-stone village at The Model Village.

Elm Bank is the best choice for you and your loved ones to spend a relaxing break in the Cotswolds.

Lower Swell is every inch the classic Cotswolds village. Surrounded by rolling countryside this is quintessential Cotswolds in many ways. A cracking local pub is literally around the corner (run by a local brewery) along with a host of beautiful buildings including a pretty church. As you'd expect there are many walks into the surrounding countryside. As the cottage is located on the way 'out' of Lower Swell it is also very close Stow on the Wold, which is about 1 mile away, a 10 min walk up a foot path.
