About this property

A traditional 4 bedroom detached house in the arts and crafts style, sleeps 8. Furnished to a high standard where all rooms have a sea view and features great outdoor spaces

Higher Shute is a traditional detached house full of character located in an elevated position above Polperro village and harbour.

Internally, the spacious home has many traditional country features including open fireplaces and wooden beams, yet sits in the perfect position for beautiful sea views. Externally, the spacious terrace comes with ample seating and offers stunning panoramic views of Polperro village, harbour and out to sea.

The village of Polperro squeezes down the valley to a small harbour. The village is famous for its seafood, where visitors can sit on the harbour and enjoy a fresh crab sandwich from one of the nearby cafes. There are great walks from the village to the nearby town of Looe via the five mile coastal footpath passing Talland Bay.

Although only small, Polperro has a number of authentic pubs and award winning restaurants. The village remains home to a thriving artistic community with a number of small galleries selling local work. The small sandy beach is protected from the winds and there is a famous natural swimming pool among the rocks that is revealed at low tide.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Higher Shute. The house is beautifully decorated with everything done to a very high standard: the furniture and artworks are thoughtfully chosen, the beds are really comfortable with excellent quality linen and the kitchen well equipped (nothing so annoying as a gorgeous house turning out to have blunt knives or saucepans too small to cook for the whole group!). Little extra touches like the canvas bag for shopping expeditions to the village or ordnance survey maps of the area to plan days out made the elegant house feel very homelike. I don't think I've ever had a lovelier view on holiday than the one from the terrace here and Polperro itself was a really charming place to stay.

We absolutely loved Higher Shute! Such a beautiful house with the most stunning views of the village and out to sea. Very tastefully decorated, appointed to a very high standard, homely and comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped - it had everything you could have wanted or needed(including sharp knives and large saucepans!). The quality of the beds, bed-linen and towels was excellent. We enjoyed having the open fire in the sitting room - very welcome after long, windswept walks on the coast! Polperro itself is very picturesque; it was lovely to be able to watch the goings on in the harbour from the comfort of Higher Shute. I would have no hesitation in staying in Polperro and, in particular, this house again - we had a great holiday there.

We stayed at the higher Shute cottage for one week with a large family of 9 people. The Holiday cottage in polperro was immaculate and very spacious. Polperro is a lovely typical Cornish fishing village. All rooms in the house have amazing views of the harbour and is close to town. I would recommend this property and location to anyone.
